Since I am tired of the impeachment process already, I am changing topics. What is your preference for exercise, a.m or p.m? Lately I have been getting up at 5 to exercise. I am not a true early bird but for some reason I have naturally been up and will go to the gym. It is much harder for me to go after work. Total laziness after a day at work with the kiddos. Is one healthier than the other?
It takes awhile for my muscles to warm up in the morning.
Hiking: I get up three hours before our meeting time. Always fill a pocket with roasted almonds to boost me up the trail.
Weightlifting: late morning or mid-afternoon. I eat something light with protein and drink a cup of tea. This gives me energy to power through a workout.
I’ve read where it is healthier to exercise in the AM. The article made sense.
Tried it. Couldn’t do it; my bed just feels too good to leave it...
So I’m a “late morning/early afternoon exerciser”.
I find that, whenever I exercise, my metabolism stays elevated for another 4 hours after I finish. That’s why I don’t exercise in the evening.
If I exercise late it keeps me awake. But I am SOOOO not a “get up early to workout” type either. I get some exercise every day though, usually between work and dinner.
I like to go to the gym at night to exercise. It's quieter then. I've never heard that morning is better than evening, or vice versa.
Perhaps it depends on the kind of person. I used to go in the afternoons. A change in our gym's schedule made me reconsider and I find mornings (9:30ish) actually works best. For me it''s a matter of digestion time after breakfast versus lunch or dinner. Our gym opens at 7am and apparently this is one of the busiest times.
@JackPedigo My gym is a YMCA, and they have a day care, which is near the gym part. In the mornings it can get quite chaotic and noisy. I love kids, but I try to avoid the busy times.
@Organist1 You're like me in wanting to work out when things a quieter.
lol, A former friend loved to swim and she found a pool near our apartment and would go early mornings before work. She was a real swimmer and just wanted to do laps. One morning she came home frustrated. It seems a group from the local senior center discovered the pool and just wanted to hang around socializing in the water and that was the end of her laps.
