Today I was traveling with a friend to a few wineries. We stopped at a rest stop in North Carolina and I was going to get a coupon book from one of those plastic stands. The first door I opened was empty except for a stack of religious flyers.
Hmmmm, what should I do?? Took the stack and dumped them in the trash. Those don’t belong there. Tisk tisk religious freak, peddle your lies somewhere else.
What would you have done? Leave them there and walk away or toss them like I did?
Not sure what I would have done there but if I have some free time in hotels I do a bit of editing of the gideon's that you find, I start out with a new preface of This is a work of fiction and any resemblance to people living or dead is purely coincidental. Never had time to to put in markers for where is contradicts itself but have dog eared a few pages and written on them read this first (mainly the pages about not being judgmental and speaking lies)
What religion was it?
@Donotbelieve
There's a bunch of 'em.
@Donotbelieve
What intolerable trait are you convinced every religion has?
@Donotbelieve
Seems to me religion is more than one thing. There’s the doctrine, and then there are the practitioners’ individual beliefs and performances. Those two are rarely identical.
So are we talking about official doctrine, or about actual individual practices, or both?
@Donotbelieve
I don’t like lies or false hope either. How do you feel about art? theater? literature? They are fictional flights of fancy.
@Donotbelieve
Cinema?
Music?
@Donotbelieve
Are there fictional flights of fancy in music?
@Donotbelieve
I’m just wondering if you feel all flights of fancy are inherently bad, or if it’s context dependent.
@Donotbelieve
How about in child development? Is it good for children to exercise their imaginations? Should parents read fictional stories to them?
@Donotbelieve
Yes. I understand. I’m curious to know your opinion about this particular piece of human nature.
@Donotbelieve
Only if you care to share.
@Donotbelieve
I also have to leave. I’ll be back later this evening. Nice chat. Thanks.
It depends on my mood, maybe toss them, but I never remove the gideons bibles from the hotel rooms...
You could get in trouble with the law in that backward state.
Hahahaha I’ll dance with the devil and take my chances.
