I got a job, one Summer, working for a certain manufacturer that makes ATMs and voting machines. Every radio in the large facility was tuned to The Fish, that Christian radio station.

Every lunch break, all the employees either congregated into bible study groups or read the bible alone. It was scary. It was bizarre. I had no idea going in, that it was all super Christians working there.

One evening, while at the bookstore, I happened upon a leather-bound, gold-leafed, copy of The Origin of The Species. It looked exactly like a fancy bible, down to the shiny red fabric ribbon book marker, attached to the spine. I purchased it.

I sat there reading or pretending to, on every lunch break till I quit at the end of the Summer. It felt like I'd escaped from Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

I once told my boss that until I met him I never fully understood "Origin of the Species". He was pretty uneducated, figured I would get away with it, would have too had it not been for our two British engineers sitting at the table next to me, they broke out laughing. That was a long week.

I'm glad you survived the terrible experience.

Wow! That musta been a scary experience!

Ok to me the most interesting part was that you help manufacture voting machines...did you see anything that made you distrust the machine?

Right wing nazi boss didn't have a problem with Service manager playing Rush Limbaugh on the radio.
Problem with me was he wanted the radio right in front of me at my desk.
Funny how a bunch of washers got loose and ended up in the radio........funny things happen........smoke,,,,,,,,,,sparks......

Good ruse. That's using your noggin'. Lol

Worker abuse and torture.

I think I would suggest to management that production would go up if the distraction caused by the discordant cacophony of loud radios be eliminated by the use of ear buds or head phones by the workers. 😉

Head phones are against health and safety rules in factories you can't hear warnings with them on

@Simon1 Nonsense. You are required to wear ear protection on job sites with excessive and damaging noise.

@PondartIncbendog those do not block out all sounds just muffle them headphones do

If I owned a radio station named The Fish, it would be all Chris Squire, all the time!

That company is a front for many fake/fraudulent corporate owners!

They are actually sponsored by Russians Oligarchs. Using front corporations who use religion and family values as a front!

All three voting machine manufacturers are owned by corporations based in Spain and Italy which are fonts for the Russians!!

That’s an interesting story. I’d have gotten kicked out the first day because I won’t tolerate any kind of blaring radio or TV regardless of the material.

I worked at a plant once that had a weekly religious service presented by Protestant clergy. Most of us were happy to have a paid rest break, but there was an exchange student from Iraq who objected and was allowed to continue working during the service. He worked with pride and determination.

wow that’s a really funny way to save yourself but also terrifying. i’d be totally freaked out in that situation.

Wow, just as well you kept quiet or you would have been another industrial accident perhaps.

Begs the questions are those companies the reason for the ultra-conservative wins at election time? 🙂

This is why that Demo votes Trump/Pence, and is seeking all the judge seats they can get.

@Davesnothere You see the Dem's as above this type of thing?

@xyz123 No.
"The Family" hosts the annual prayer breakfast every year since the red scare. Every POTUS has attended, and many Senators and Congressmen/women.

BOTH sides are affected by it, moreso the GOP right now.

@Davesnothere I agree with your last statement. I have no idea what "The Family" hosts, but if it is a cartoon on TV, does it have a value in this topic? I wouldn't know.

@xyz123 I linked you to the book, it has even been made into a netflicks doc. "The Family" is a cabal of evagelicals who work together behind the scenes, regardless of party, to achieve Christo_Fascist aims, IE Christian Nationalism

@xyz123 This . . .

That is scary! And that is just one company in one town. It can’t possibly be in isolation, surely.

The Hive Mind at work. Well done for doing your time and then getting out!

2

You did. It's extremely difficult for me to work around cra cra chrischuns.... because they're like hollow bodies.... nothing gets contemplated or questioned.
