Am I alone in thinking the people on the road, who have the most to lose, should have a say in whether there should be self-driving vehicles?

When people are inconvenienced its someone elses fault. If theyre in a wreck (aka "accident" ) it's someone rlses fault. When people die, someone will be at fault. Without people to blame things on, plus digital tracking of everything, that means half the time (at least) hjmans will need to take responsibility for themselves. Not happening.

I'm all for it for every car/truck. If it's only even twice as safe with the bugs worked out and it cuts traffic fatalities in half then 40,000 people a year won't be killed.

@NoPlanetB the point is to drive when drivers aren't needed. Not horrible weather or in cities, but at night or just on the highway. A safe enough system can drive through flyover country at night while the driver sleeps, and if needed gets woken up or alerted so they can take over. The driver is theoretically more rested when needed so its safer.

I'm hoping to see driverless cars enable me to not own a car, just use an uber type app to get me a ride most places. Keep my truck for when needed (maybe, I'm getting old and getting even more tired of things that need to be hauled in a truck). We'll see what happens

@NoPlanetB I drove from Seattle to Albuquerque then back this last year. Pain in the ass (and my hips). Would have been wonderful to have been able to let the vehicle drive through the desert and the night. Wouldn't have needed to stop for the night and pay for a hotel.

I hope that you don't die in a car crash - be kinda ironic 😉
