Republicans want to have a down & dirty impeachment trial in the Senate, with no witnesses or new evidence, & then quickly swat it down with their majority & hope it will be forgotten.
But is impeachment a one & done, or can other Bills of Impeachment be voted out of the House based on new charges, like what the prosecutors call a superseding indictment? Can the House keep the Senate in a continual impeachment trial until the election?

I believe new charges could be brought, but remember, all this occurs in a political context. To not win a conviction and then pile on more charges would not play well politically.
And remember, when Mitch McConnell voted for acquittal, he asserted that the proper forum for Trump accountability was criminal court. That pretty much let the Senate off the hook.
Now, 4 years later, Trump has been indicted in 4 different jurisdictions, on a total of 91 felony counts. It has been a long wait, but worth it, I think. Would these charges have ever been brought if the Senate had convicted the Orange Foolius?
