It is the first step in the removal of a president. It goes next to the next branch of government, the Senate. Unfortunately the Senate, through it's leader has already said they will not convict the president. So he will remain.

@lerlo Got you. So that was always going to be the outcome in which case his position of being a wronged individual is being ratified and gives him greater strength going into 2020.

@Geoffrey51 Wrong but thanks for weighing in. If you paid attention to the facts you'd know the case was clear and proven. Or the "innocent" person would have mounted a defense. Let's pretend you knew thew definition of Obstruction of Congress. If Congress is investigating something and you tell witnesses not to testify and fail to turn over subpoenaed documents, that is obstruction of Congress. If you have an alternative explanation I'd love to hear it. Since you don't know anything about this country, we have a checks and balances system of government with 3 EQUAL branches of government. When the president says "I can do anything I want," including illegal things and abuse of power, that's called a dictatorship. The check on that is impeachment by the legislative branch, which is what is occurring. The president has also blackmailed all the republicans telling them they will lose party support and money if they don't support him. So they will fall in lockstep and fail to convict him. Two senators have already said they will not be impartial, completely contradicting the oath they will take swearing impartiality. Sound like a fair trial? Guessing if you were on trial for murder of a police officer and two jurors said they couldnt be fair because their family members were police officers you might not want them on your jury? Why not?

@ToolGuy apparently there is some disagreement as to why we left and that apparently we became successful. The man in charge is trying to change all that but at least it's nice to know, as he said, there are good people on both sides
