Here's a moment to share about the joys of moving through middle age.

So I'm just kicking it at home and typing on my computer, and I look down at my hands on the keyboard. Where the hell did all those visible blood vessels on the backs of my hands come from? I'm too young to have things like that on my body, I'm only...

Oh, wait. No, I'm just about exactly the right age for that.

Well, I guess it's easier than puberty was!

Second puberty was a bitch to deal with at first, even worse than the first one. Nobody warned me that after thirty I would start growing hair in wierd places like MY BACK. Or that the hair in normal places would retreat from them at an alarming rate. In fact I think it's migrating to my back.

And don't get me started on what happens after I eat!

I forgot my ID a year or so ago at the grocery store. While buying wine or something, I told the clerk my age and suggested with my expression "C'mon, you can see I'm over 21."

She said "Let me see your hands." I show hands. "Okay, yep, you're over 21."

Harsh!

Aging sucks. Lots of annoying (minor) health issues, but in the end, every day above ground is a good one.

I'm still confused over my ballsack hitting my knees !!!!!

I thought that was a sign of strong hands.

Yeah, I'll run with that one! Good call, @CallMeDave!

Thank goodness my eyesight is also failing, I still look good in the bathroom mirror, at a safe distance, without my glasses on. I wear a lot of colorful scarves, ostensibly to keep warm but really to keep peole from seeing my neck. All those little tricks . And where did all those jars with retinol serum come from? Can't wait for summer when all my tattoos are revealed. People stop looking at my hands, neck and face and just concentrate on Odisn's ravens.

I don’t understand how I can have wrinkles and acne at the same time. One or the other please!

@fauxname11 I call it bullshit! Lol.

Is age 30 still considered as being a young adult? I'm 30.

Sorry but no, you just crossed over to " 30 somethin' age".....lol

@buzz13 Lol.

Dear, I have shoes that are older than you!

@Spinliesel Haha.

I'm still trying to figure out how the grey haired guy got in the mirror! And, where did my hair go?

My some of my hairs didn't like my head, too much sun, so they moved to shaded areas. Nose, ears (eewww), back of hands, all kinda strange places.

My hands look kind of rough but I think that is from being single for years

Giggity

@Blindbird I googled that word. I learn something new here every day.

TMI......lol

I looked at my hands a couple of years ago and saw dark brown bumps. I figured I need to have this checked out at the V.A. They looked and said it was age spots that are on the top layer of my skin.
So I have raised age spots, better than skin cancer. I was 51 then.
At 53 I had a bi-level lumbar fusion, when did I get old so fast?

At least @EricGunderson you're not having to complain about needing pile preventers and circular blow up cushions to protect your crimson grapes?

I try not to think about it, as long as my body works well and does what I want.

I remember my fourth grade teacher — Sister Mary Michelda, a battle-axe of a woman — and I was so repulsed by her cold, clammy hands and the thick, blue veins popping out on the back of her hands through her paper-thin, translucent skin. shudder

Particularly when those cold clammy hands didn't even glow when applying the tawse to your tender young skin?

@FrayedBear Fortunately they weren't doing corporal punishment anymore when I was in school. They had upgraded to emotional abuse. It was far more effective.

@resserts Sister Mary Cujo (Carl Joseph) had them on her forehead! I hear ya!

@resserts and aren't bitter women good at it?

@FrayedBear You'd think that being "married to Jesus" would mellow them out, but I guess not.

@Nottheonlyone Like war paint!

That's a neat bit of prose there, @resserts!
