I really despise Christmas, the music, the militant adherence (my "family) to stupid rituals and traditions. The mandatory gift giving, which makes shopping an even more burdensome endeavor. The religious undercurrent of "celebrating" the supposed birth of the supposed Jesus of Nazareth, whose ideology has either directly or indirectly, led to the greatest suffering and bloodshed in all of human history.

If Christmas gets anything right, it is in it's genius in convincing people to buy more and more items, in the name of "giving" or "generosity". Under this cynical idea of charity, the poor who would otherwise be forgotten or discarded throughout the rest of year. Are given items and provisions, that would otherwise be denied them at any other time.

It is interesting, how corporations make more in profits at this time of the year than any other. Despite the supposed altruistic and selfless nature of the holiday. My reasoning is that the idea of giving and generosity, is used to alleviate a type of quilt for this opulence. Which plays into the corporate strategy of maximizing profits.

Christmas is just empty vaudeville like theatrics, combined with Hallmark level empty headedness, and the most shallow and fake of pretensions. If you enjoy this type of theater that's fine, but don't be too surprised when someone doesn't.

You have complete awareness of what this one day a year is really all about. So few people see it. It disgusts me how the corporations take advantage and makes me sad that people are so blind. I avoid as much Christmas as I can get away with.
You've articulated the truth so well... thanks!

Wow...I'm glad I'm not you.

Yep. That about hits the nail on the head. If it was not so cold in the Northern Hemisphere, it would be the best time of the year, for an off grid camping holiday.

So, it’s gotten late, and I’ve a couple days work on a serious project starting tomorrow - but got up at ‘this time of night’ to see if any of ‘my kind’ had checked in on this very subject. You did!

As I read your brilliantly stated conclusions … it struck me - hell yes that’s gonna be well written - it’s written by someone with their fuckin head on straight. Well done, and thank you ~
