He certainly did
Obama set the presidential standard so high trump knew he’d never make it as a Democrat. But the standards set by Republicans require mega-money to run & win lengthy, if never-ending elections… In order for working class citizens - even if brilliant - to compete, they’re forced to associate with many unsavory types.. Not by choice, but necessity.
In our two-party system, trump purposely chose the dark party, even stating something like ‘how easy their voters are to trick’.. Other than the need to raise millions - if not billions to compete, our parties have become like Night & Day. trump chose night..

Members of the ruling class are all one big club of friends and allies. They usually don't depart from that except for when they decide to publicly get involved in the kabuki theater of taking sides in the two party political system in which the ruling class pretend to be opponents when in fact they are united in oppressing, controlling, and exploiting the lower classes.
My friends are honest, moral people who do not adore or identify with the ruling class, which is why they are in my life.
