More people should rescue companion animals from kill shelters

absolutely. There is a huge number of no-kill shells in my area, plus volunteer groups who focus on finding forever homes for elderly dogs with medical conditions and those in shelters where their days are numbered. They're doing wonderful work.

@TheoryNumber3 it takes so little to care for cats and they return so much joy and affection to those who do clean their litter every time it is used and feed them good food.....the sound of my cats Kiti7&Laila10 purring in my ear next to my pillow is priceless and purrfect

@Larry68Feminist I have two cats, both strays that adopted me. They are two of the least cuddly cats I've ever had. They don't like to be held. They won't sit on my lap. They will only let me pet them with one hand from a foot or two away. One of them yells at me all day long. The other one just looks at me when he wants something. They're both weird but I love them.

@TheoryNumber3 Give them a little more time....if they get bored grooming each other one or both will start rubbing up to you.....who knows where they strayed from.....have a vet check for chips in their ears....if none put your chip in their ears so they will be returned to you if they get lost

@TheoryNumber3 most cats appreciate their litter cleaned after every use.....when they see how dedicated you are to them they will turn on the charm.....the bellowing cat wants outside DON'T let them out because they are going to stay strays otherwise.....make your world their fun happy world

@Larry68Feminist I've had cats my whole life. I take impeccable care of them. ... regular visits to the vet, plenty of toys and a healthy diet. I had both of them chipped, neither was previously. And yes, I clean the litter boxes daily. I've had both these guys for over 10 years. One was feral. The other I think was a runaway. They don't groom each other or cuddle up together. I give them as much affection as they'll tolerate. They even let me brush them occasionally. But feral cats, as you know, are different because they weren't socialized as kittens, so they are what they are. They're both males so that's probably part of it. But I know cats and I know these two are never going to be lap cats, no matter how hard I try. So all I can give them is a safe space and food and love.

@TheoryNumber3 this is an awesome loving devotion....thank you for sharing.....most people pretend cats are aloof and do NOT love cats unconditionally like you.....some cats bond to same sex humans....your ten years with these boys might have been different if they were girls OR WOMAN LOVING BOYS ?? My 2 girls dictate to me exactly how and where they want massage and affection and are aloof with men who have frequently visited us BUT instantly butter up new women visiting us.....cats are amazing and I treasure our time 6 years 7 days now .....they get 3 baths per year spring summer fall with me in the tub with slow running water fill from the shower hose.....got rid of mites and fleas when we first soaked away together 2014

@Larry68Feminist You truly are a cat lover. Kudos to you 🙂
Yes, I've had all kinds. Except for my first kitten that I adopted from a pet store, they've all been homeless cats that I've rescued. And I've loved every one of them equally. But I do have to say I draw the line at sharing a bath with them LOL.

@TheoryNumber3 holding or tying a cat in a sink is terrifying while sharing a bath minimizes their fear and struggles to escape .....same with my Basset Hound years ago .....we all rinsed off well and smell better for the experience sans bugs

That was very funny. And great dog got adopted. Happy ending.
