Who is solving the biggest problems in the world? Are you part of that? If not... why?

Dunno. Not I. Why not? No patience, no time, no desire, knowing it won't be appreciated. Know how the saying goes "If you're not part of the solution, then you're part of the problem"? I figure that I'm not part of the problem and let others worry about it.

I have carefully constructed my life to get the most with as little work as possible. World saving is not this Cat's bag. I think everyone should just be thankful that I don't use my brain for criminal activities and leave it at that.

The "individual" solution to macro problems are, more often than not, deceptive and illusory. The climate crisis isn't going to be solved by individuals recycling, if we do nothing to curb corporate externalization of the cost of making profit.

I am trying to imagine someone asking this question in a foxhole during world war I.... or in a Parisien cafe in pre-revolutionary France...

I work in healthcare, which seems like the biggest problem in the world when youre really needing some and can't get it

It does not really take a lot. Someone once calculated, and I suspect it may be true, that you could cure world hunger forever, if Americans just gave up what they spend on Christmas for one year.

I am not solving any world problems . I try to help my family and stay health and financially independent. Seems to be all I can handle, eh? You?

@Seeker3CO we take care of two 85 year olds ( my inlaws) and help our daughter with our grandson. We both work full time. And we are well off, but time wise we are tapped out.

I have a rather small-diameter circle of influence. Can I end world hunger? Can I bring peace to the Middle East? Will I be the one to disarm North Korea? Nope. What I can do, though, is help someone I know who has fallen on hard times. I can mediate conflicts between recently separated parents through volunteer work I do. I can stand up for someone who's being verbally attacked in the workplace. Maybe my vote contributes to solutions to the big problems of war, global warming, starvation, water shortages, pestilence, etc., and maybe it doesn't. I can do more good in my backyard.

That would be more than enough if everyone did it.
