Our snow is rarely good enough for snowmen as it tends to be dry snow. In a short thaw it becomes sugar snow which still is no good.

@happyhiker1 Oh yes it is so beautiful which is why after the last fall I ran out early to take photos of my home. I should have done in the woodland that day but waited for sun the next ... but the sun took the snow off the tree tops despite -20C. Those are my last photos.

@happyhiker1 No, sorry, it is an octagonal log house that I built between '91 and '94. There is a joke amongst log home builders that a log home kills a marriage. It did though not because it took so long as I had built a frame cabin which was comfortable. The fall photo shows more obviously that it is logs. I had a friend on Saltspring who had a mongolian yurt. Lovely but not as warm.

But very cold further North.

We had a very light dusting the other day, which is not all that attractive but perfect for a slow soak into the soil.

And we had a huge January thaw in Vermont while visiting. The dirt roads were impassable due to the mud.

We are far north and we did have snow. A dusting here and there. The roads are completely dry. It has gotten a little cold though ( 28 ) so there will be patches of ice. By Friday it's supposed to be sunny again and in the 40's.
