It's just an addiction put your damn phones down and actually talk to somebody, talk to the mailman talk to anybody and everybody you can. Specially who ever you are with, in a restaurant, or in a car, don't be rude ignoring people when you could be having a conversation.

We are now addicted to Instant Gradication in stead of free time which seems we have leaned not to use wisely!
Common sense has become a commodity, not prized and thought out!
Because of my work and adventures I have been alone in many respects!
Yet, I always was able to meet and have relationships with others!
Now since my return to the USA in 2015 after being in Central America and some what isolated for ten years.
My return was very lonely, I found most people curious but not freindly!
It seems that fear has taken on a new version of hate and disconnection!
I find a overtly large monetary, financial, moral, and ethical gap between the poor, the Middle class, and the wealthy!
This is not he country or Society I left years ago!
It has become increasingly hard to have personal relationships with others who do not want something from you!
Online it is just as diffecult!
In reaity you do not klnow if that indiviual on the other end is actually real, actually accurately stating who they are, and not all out deceiving you!
No sure what the answer might or will be!
One must be fully aware of their surroundings and who wants to become part of their lives!

There is no hard and solid connection but a digital or a aura connection which maybe real or not real. SM makes the universe very close yet is far from reality.
Ex- I can phsycially see the images of Mt Everest, yet when I was there climbing that Majestic mountian it was different. You experienced it and felt it and you were part of it where else on google or SM it is there but you cannot feel it or touch it and experience it.
SM is not letting your experiencing this journey but is giving you a visual image what it can feel like

It depends on how you use it. I maintain personal F2F connections and I use social media (and now this place) to maintain and make new connections. This place has become a real treasure trove of humanity for me. I'm chatting right now with someone I've become acquainted with from this site as I write this comment.

If you use social media & electronic communication methods as your sole means of interacting with anyone to the deliberate exclusion of face to face interaction, that could be a problem. The intent is to make folks more, not less connected.

No, I don't need to know what someone is doing 24/7/365.

Stop taking so damn many selfies, it makes you seem a narcissist.

I think social media gives us the impression of connectedness, because we have more people in our social circles, but I also think it makes those connections more superficial. We can check in with more people, but we don't have as deep a connection to them. We have only so much attention to give, and the more spread out it is the more shallow our interactions become.

Just the opposite, I can see what my commections are up to if I want, or just not bother, beats ringing everybody.

No. I get to say longer sentences in writing than I can via speaking. My friends have ADD and keep interrupting me. I love that I can spill open in the written format and I feel my thoughts are more apt to be heard.

I have trouble with men from this site texting me but I'm working on it-lol. Idon't have a smart phone since retiring so I've never tweeted. Can handle my laptop- sometimes ask my 22 yr old daughter for help.

I’m not so much disconnected because of the software and the tech as much as I am because I work from home. I’ve been a remote worker since 2005 and have done less and less travel for work in the last 5 years or so. I work in tech so the companies I have worked for make heavy use of things like instant messaging, email and video conferencing. I really don’t like being home all day so I make a point of going out to be with people even if it’s jusf getting lunch, going to dinner or running a simple errand. You need human contact or you go crazy.

I concur there's so much virtual connection but no real bonding. My only friends are my books and my YouTube videos. Made me see things differently. All you lot in the states. :'(

No. I still have friends I meet face-to-face, but I also have friends who I'll probably never meet in real life but who, were it not for social media, I'd have never even have known existed.
