NPR...’A trump lawyer (Alan Dershowitz) argued a quid pro quo could be in the public interest and thus is not impeachable.’
In other words, lying, cheating and stealing in the public’s interest is acceptable behavior. This is coming from the ‘supposedly’ educated and people with ‘the power!’ In Dershowitz’s case, a professor who will return to his law class at Harvard and will keep passing on this ‘new ethical and moral behavior,’ ofcourse, it is called getting ‘justice!’ And, out in the wider world, this information is being taken in subconsciously, and even literally! This ‘professional’ information will be build on by the citizens, as the basis for a ‘fair’ functioning social order and how Justice will be mited out! Wheather we like it or not, ‘the powerful’ with the ‘bull horns’...set the norms for how our social order should work! And, the majority of the populous, will be susceptible to this low (very low) bar, for human behavior!
As I take in the ideas and behaviors of the people around me, plus, those I see in power, I see a collapse of ethical and moral human behavior. Most, people need examples in order to ‘know’ what is the moral and ethical path to take! Now, it appears that in the greatest of examples on ‘morals and ethics,’ is only what is wanted by certain people with power and status! Where will ‘justice’ reform come from? We want get it from the people who hold the power!
The travesty of this impeachment, is not that trump will be ‘excused’ for his flagrant PERSONAL power abuse in the name of American...it is that the norms of ‘right and wrong,’ have been changed to be acceptable, if a person deems it so! And, the simplest of words make it so...’quid pro quo could be in the public interest’...lying, cheating and stealing...will NEVER be in my best interest! And, I can stand in that truth!
Maybe a Harvard education is not all it's cracked up to be.
Think about all the lawyers, that got their education there? Could this be the reason the NY Barr Assoc. could not give approval for all those judges appointed to the courts, that came out of the Federalist Society? I am sure some were Harvard educated!
Certainly not in the case of Dersh and one of the lawyers arguing for trump!
@Redheadedgammy but, think about the lawyers he taught...then sent out into society! No wonder justice is so hard to come by!! We really are being exposed to the underbelly of so much that has been veiled over! That is a good thing!
