Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.No they do not all pretend to give an out, most religions never really bothered, and a few like some Buddhist sects actually promote accepting true death. In fact, the giving of personal immortality, is mainly just a recent development of the Abrahamic religions, who are of course the ones who do their best to talk up a fear of death in the first place.

It's where they get their power. Who would follow something that gave no rewards? Immortality is the ultimate reward and can and does illicit ultimate control.

because most people are too frightened to accept reality, and will therefore clutch at the frankly ludicrous sliver of hope offered by corrupt and unscrupulous religious institutions like a drowning man clutching at a razor blade.

It is interesting that religions of old did not give an “out”. Only gods and goddesses were immortal in ancient times.
I’m not sure that all religions of today provide an “out”. Reincarnation doesn’t seem like much of an out if you don’t even know who you are or were and can’t remember your past lives.
The ultimate “out” is to realize your true identity, but that’s not really an out—those who see their oneness with the all have no need for solace.

@JeffMesser I have practiced transcendental meditation since I was 11 years old, it is one of the things that lead me to atheism and antitheism, thank you for the advice, but I asked for proof?

@JeffMesser I did find myself, and he is a rational atheist, who is at peace with reality and truth, with no need for supernatural mumbo jumbo to alleviate the irrational fear of inevitable death

@JeffMesser You are very disrespectful almost verging on social racism, just because something originates in one culture does not mean it is not universally available and appropriate. People are people regardless of culture, the brain of someone from the east is practically identical in function that of one born in the west, I would have thought your own practices would have proven that to you.
Transcendentalism is very akin to therapeutic self hypnosis (both of which I have studied) either and both can be successfully used to find and deal with "inner truth" or psychological issues, I choose to back up and test my inner truth with evidence and eliminate the possibility of error, you choose not to and arrogantly assume that your thoughts are infallible because you thought them while using meditation, that is the text book definition of confirmation bias.
