"To meet someone with genuine political ideals was a rarity in Stoat's line of work; as a lobbyist he had long ago concluded there was no difference in how Democrats and Republicans conducted the business of government. The game stayed the same; it was all about favors and friends, and who controlled the dough. Nobody believed in anything except hanging on to power, whatever it took." Carl Hiassen,from "Sick Puppy"

Genuine political ideals are rare. It's all about catering to their big-money campaign contributors and only their powerful constituents. Based on to whom they owe their allegiance, it's all about making threats, compromises, and deals to get what they need for their own reelections. The powerless don't enter into their calculations and plans at all, except in promises and lies.

So you think both parties share equal blame for this propensity?

@fishline79
Both parties are corrupt, though I don't think they are exactly equal.
They are both definitely kowtowing to money and power with stupid, destructive arrogance. They are both too far to the right.

@AnonySchmoose Perhaps in the past their may have been truth to that but under our current "leadership" I don't think you can compare the two parties. The Republicans win hands down on the "corruption scale"! (if you can call it winning)

@fishline79
I agree Republicans are the most corrupt.
If the Republicans win again, it is the Democrat party's own damn fault.

@AnonySchmoose Now, that I might agree with.

Sounds about right. It also explains everything about how the Dem leaders and establishment would rather lose again to Trump than let Bernie become prez. Because as long as Trump or some centrist Dem is prez, the establishment in both parties can go on with business as usual, enjoying their power and trading favors so they can both get rich from politics....

Do you really think the Dem. leaders would prefer Trump to Bernie?!

@fishline79 Yes, you must not be paying attention or are naive about the system.
