Why Sanders As The Democratic Nominee Terrifies The Center-Left [npr.org]

... says Matt Bennett, the co-founder of the Washington DC Think Tank called "Third Way". Why Sanders As The Democratic Nominee Terrifies The Center-Left

NPR Host David Greene... "What are you so afraid of?"

Matt Bennett..... "It isn't his policies; it's his prospects that - what terrifies us is that if we nominate Bernie Sanders, he is likely to lose to Donald Trump, and there is nothing more scary to a Democrat than that."

It is the same that I have been saying... "It is not the message but the messenger that is the problem!"

IF BERNIE REALLY WANTED TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
If Bernie really wanted to enlighten and inform American people and to start a revolution, these better options were and are still available to him:

  1. Be a king maker
  2. Cultivate a revolution you want at grass roots
  3. Start a Think Tank devoted to his policies
  4. Start endorsing and campaigning for progressive candidates in all local and state elections who will start changing policies right from the high school boards across the country
  5. Start funding local and state election candidates
  6. Go on a speaking circuit, be in the media every day
  7. Write extensively including Open Editorials in daily newspapers
  8. Retire from the Senate where he has made no significant contribution that American voters can remember
  9. Take care of your damn damaged health after one heart attack
  10. Stop this personal ambition journey and drop out the sinister efforts of Democratic Party hijacking. You will not be elected. You will not be president in your lifetime. You will bring the most humiliating defeat to the Democratic Party since Dukakis by handing over another presidency to a criminal Trump with your stupidity

He can accomplish a lot more for American people with the above if he really cared.

MITCH MCCONNELL SAID HE WILL BE DARTH VADER OF SOCIALIST POLICIES
Apparently all of Bernie Sanders' madness is to satisfy his personal ambition to become president. Mitch McConnell has already declared that he will be Darth Vader of all socialist policies and he will kill every single bill that is tainted with socialist programs. Everybody can be sure that Bernie Sanders will not be able to do anything about it. NONE.

Isn't it amazing now that Bloomberg is considering Hillary as a running mate. (I've heard this.) That should cause the same thing that happened last election. Business as usual people just do not learn. It looks like the powers that be are asking us if we want billionaire oligarchs running the show or billionaire fascists. Either way there is nothing here about us and we are back to the top 1 percent.

Trust me. I believe Bloomberg is not that stupid.

1

And here we have another hate campaign against Bernie by you know who. We have just under 9 months till the election and no reasonable alternatives... Bottom line folks is you VOTE BLUE NO MATTER WHO... BERNIE or ANY of the Democratic Candidates over the POS we have now ANY DAY OF THE WEEK...thats the bottom line. These Right Wing Conservative Posts serve no purpose except to throw rocks at the Democrats efforts...these posts are...distractions.

You call it hate, we call it the truth.

@St-Sinner who is "WE" there sparky?...your Republican handlers? TROLL

@phoenixone1 I want Trump defeated and not help re-elect him. That is what you are doing with Bernie.
Please read this = [agnostic.com]

@St-Sinner no...you are trying to divide the party because your Republican handlers don't like the idea of paying their fair share of TAXES...duhhhh

@phoenixone1 I am trying to save Democrats from imploding with Bernie. Isn't that what a patriot should do? Just remember, what would the world be like if you just could stop the terrible events in history happened due to bad leaders. I am kind of a futurist, like to read and imagine what the future has for us. I am worried what Bernie's candidacy would do to us. It is nothing good. So just think that I am going to the past to correct the events, stop Bernie so our future can be better.

@St-Sinner The phrase “concern troll” was coined for this exact thing.

@St-Sinner the only thing that is imploding is the Republican party because they see their FAT TAX BREAKS getting OVERTURNED...too damn bad...the money needs to be returned...the Republicans and Trumpty Dumpty have stolen enough.

@phoenixone1 Are we talking about the good vs. bad? Or we are talking about electability? We all agree that that the Republicans and Trump are not good for country. But that does not matter in elections. The American presidential elections (not state and local elections that much) is a competition of personalities. Ideas are ignored and sidelined as the campaigns go national in the general. The only thing matters is the strength of the candidacies. Bernie really sucks as a candidate. He cannot win. We are not talking about winning an election is Vermont.

@Bobbyzen I am not a troll. I am a truth teller.

@St-Sinner Bernie is just as electable as Hillary was and she won by over 3 million votes...would have been more of the Bernie supporters hadn't balked at Hillary and not voted...Hillary lost for one reason only...her handlers dropped the Electoral Ball...i didn't want Hillary either but had to vote for her when she got the nod(we won't talk about it being stolen either...)...this election is about flipping the power narrative...the Republicans are going down one way or the other or both so the bottom line is VOTE BLUE OR GO AWAY...i don't care if Roger Rabbit gets the nod...WE VOTE HIM OR HER IN.

@phoenixone1 If Bernie is as electable as Hillary was, heavens help the Democratic Party. It is headed to extinction.

@St-Sinner not before the Republicans go extinct...they committed suicide when they sold their souls to back Cadet Bone Spurs...spineless creatures become have they.

@OwlInASack
I am saying Bernie is a hunchback, he has never been a Democrat and is now hijacking the Democratic Party, Bernie is Jewish, Bernie has no plans to fight Mitch McConnell's stone walling and he will be a lame duck president from Day 1 and Bernie will not be president.

What are the inaccuracies in here? The truth makes you uncomfortable?

@St-Sinner Annnnnd...out comes your RACIST rhetoric...BERNIE IS JEWISH???? Who gives a rats ass? Bet you wish you had a time machine...bet you would go back to 1933 and enlist in the Waffen SS...you really are a rainbow of Republican values...the more you say the deeper you dig a hole for yourself...TRUMP TROLL...the only thing that makes me uncomfortable is the fact that people like you number in the millions...kind of like maggots on rotting meat...because that's what Trump is...ROTTING MEAT.

@phoenixone1

We have moved on to a new discussion about Bernie's truth here = [agnostic.com]

Please do visit.

@St-Sinner no...more like you have moved into a new racist dillusion that you were taught to fear...you are a child brought up in darkness and fear...lions and tigers and bears...OH MY. Go back to your Republican handlers and tell them you are a failure...

@phoenixone1 Please be informed about Bernie. Learn the truth about Bernie. That's all I am saying.

I mean, c'mon. The dude being interviewed, Matt Bennett, is co-founder of The Third Way think tank, which is funded by the Koch Brothers. If your best shot at trying to scare folks away from voting for Bernie is to post Koch brothers talking points, you're on a failed mission. It would be better if you just admit you're a Trump supporter and stop trolling.

You are not going to accept any criticism of Bernie, will you?

@St-Sinner From the Koch Brothers? Why would I?

You have to expect this...it is a free country still(although there is a serious effort to suppress free press)...St-Sinner has been going at it like there is no tomorrow...which is exactly what another 4 years of Trump and McConnell would look like...the courts are being stacked and the National Debt is at a point of bankrupting us. Dumbass is HELL bent on isolating us from everyone on the planet and if he can get away with it railroad his dumbass kids into positions of Authority...but it's a free country so we have to put up with the right wingers BS...Chatter on St-Sinner...chatter on.

@phoenixone1 You are giving me too much credit for being good. I am St. Sinner. I am not related to Simon.

@St-Sinner oh...so sorry...your right that WOULD be too much credit...I do try to give credit where credit is due ...in your case...it is DEFINITLY NOT DUE...TROLL ON St-Sinner...TROLL ON

@phoenixone1 I consider myself a truth teller.

@St-Sinner and I consider you a REPUBLICAN TROLL...

@phoenixone1 You can hate me for telling the truth but the truth will win. I am crusader of the truth and my sacrifice is not important. I will take all criticism and blame so that the Truth can win and the Democratic Party can be saved. It is for the larger good. It is very important to not fall into the quagmire of propaganda, alternative truths and glorification of a wrong candidate like Bernie. Bernie will not be president.

@St-Sinner I never said I "Hated you"...i merely said you were running a "Hate campaign"...huge difference...i DID however call you a REPUBLICAN TROLL...i stand by that.

@phoenixone1 Forgive them for they do not know what they are doing.

@St-Sinner I would have said that about the Republicans when they got behind Cadet Bone Spurs but they just plain sold their souls...FUCKEM

@phoenixone1 That will not win elections. You will be left just hating them more. They will have the last laugh. We are all angry with Trump and Republicans but the solution is not shoot ourselves in the foot. That is what we are doing with Bernie.

@St-Sinner shooting ourselves in the foot would be NOT getting behind the Democratic nominee...and certainly changing horses in the middle of the stream is political suicide so nope...going to go with whoever the nominee is...PERIOD

@St-Sinner Concern troll

@Bobbyzen Don't shoot the messenger for telling the truth. It is time for introspection, for being emotional.

@Bobbyzen, @phoenixone1 Yes, fight to the last drop in you. Trump will be re-elected in 2020. We democrats have offered this to him on a silver platter.

@St-Sinner I'm certain that even if you are trained in any field relevant to political prognostication (as I am - in both data analysis and campaign management), you're letting your bias overtake your logic. Maybe rethinking your take on the election would help you. Meanwhile, I'll keep dropping in on your posts to debunk your unsubstantiated talking points. Have a good day!

@Bobbyzen I really don't have a bias and don't even care if Bernie had two heads. All I am saying here is with two heads, he will not be elected.

But it is possible that it comes across as a bias because:

  1. I am very blunt
  2. I don't mince words
  3. I am not politically correct.

But you have to be careful to bring academics and profession into the discussion. It is never a good idea because books and articles do not win the real world. Real understanding and keen observations do.

@St-Sinner I’m not talking academics. I am a trained data analyst and experienced campaign manager. I bring my qualifications, experience, and tools to the table.

@Bobbyzen Do other professionals agree with you on Bernie? Do all data analysts and campaign managers agree that Bernie is the best candidate?

@St-Sinner I take their expertise, biases and opinions into account.

@Bobbyzen The reasonable and honest answer would be, No, all experts and professionals do not agree on the conclusion.

There, you have the answer and the value of data, education, experience within 4 walls. You will get a better opinion and value from a voter who is struggling with the kitchen table issues and sees the world as it without a fancy vocabulary.

2

I listened to this interview of the co-founder of a "center-left" think tank that is funded by the Koch Brothers. It was chock full of right-wing, 1 percenters' talking points. One of the best was the first, that Bernie's lead in the polls vs. Trump are "meaningless" because Walter Mondale led Ronald Reagan in the polls and lost. Here's the breakdown: 1) The poll in question was taken in January, 1983, when the economy was in shambles from Reagan's tax cuts; Reagan was at the lowest popularity rating of his 8-year tenure; and the poll was nearly 2 years before the election. By contrast, these polls are 9 months from the election, the economy is perceived as doing well, and Trump is popular. So that talking point was pure bullshit fear mongering from a Koch-supported think tank terrified that a Bernie presidency will gasp mean they'll have to start paying their fair share in taxes and increase its poverty-level wages to workers.

3

We get it, Bernie's too old, too rumpled, and way too Jewish for your centrist sensibilities but your assertion that he only wants to be President for the sake of it is pulled straight from your ass. He wants to be President to be a change agent for this massively fucked up country and the ruination that's been made of it through unchecked conservative policies.

Yes, McConnell will block anything that lands on his desk during a Bernie administration but he'll make himself an obstacle to ANY Democrat President. The only chance anyone has for meaningful change is to eliminate McConnell from the halls of government entirely. No one will be able to make a difference until he's gone. It's not just Bernie he'll block. He'll block anyone on the left.

This election depends entirely on enough left voters coming out and taking back the Senate. Even if we don't win the Presidency and we're stuck with four more years of the marmalade colored fuckface, if we can control both houses of Congress, we can rob him of the built-in rubberstamp he now enjoys from his Republican enablers.

Bernie has the ideas, moderates have no ideas and want no real change. Ideally, I'd like to see a Bernie presidency, McConnell gone, Senate taken back and Pelosi retired. Since I can't have all that, I'll settle for taking back the Senate and controlling both houses of Congress when shithead is probably re-elected.

Then we impeach him again.

American Presidential Campaigns are personality competitions. Nobody cares about ideas or how big your brain is. I hope you realize hat.

@St-SinnThank you for making my point for me. You're a centrist so, of course, you have no ideas and don't value them. Speak for yourself pal. There's lots of us who have ideas and value candidates with ideas.

Hope you realize that.,

@St-Sinner "NOBODY cares about ideas or how big your brain is"???? Your speaking like a TRUE REPUBLICAN ... I hear the rest of your "NOBODIES" calling...they are all saying..."Baa...BAA...BAAA"

@phoenixone1 Let me ask you a question. Do you want another Dukakis-like or a worse defeat?

@St-Sinner Dukakis was a nobody with, again, no ideas and no support because he brought nothing to the table. Bernie is light years ahead of that. He's the frontrunner for a reason; because people like the direction he wants to go in.

@Sgt_Spanky You cannot stop glorifying and putting lipstick on your candidate. In fact, Bernie is a worse candidate than Dukakis was.

@St-Sinner there is Absolutly NO COMPARISON between Dukakis and Bernie...Bernie has the support if everyone gets behind him...but you are going to vote for Cadet Bone Spurs...well there is one vote we don't have for Bernie...oh gee whiz...we don't have your support...now how did we know that?...me think...oh yes...now I remember...ITS YOUR DAILY HATE POSTS ABOUT BERNIE...so sorry you love Dumpty Trumpty...not our fault you have no common sense...not like we haven't tried.

@St-Sinner Take your establishment bias and progressive hatred and cast your vote for Biden, or Buttigieg, or Bloomberg or whoever you plan on supporting and leave the revolution effort to the rest of us.

Centrists like yourself are just Republican Lite.

@Sgt_Spanky Please call me a pragmatist, try to be one and you will start seeing things clearly.

@St-Sinner I get your fears; you see Bernie as too out there to be a viable candidate. The socialism thing alone will doom him and we'll have to endure a second term of Trump. I get it. That's why I think we should focus on taking the Senate. That's totally do-able. Then, no matter who we run, if they lose, we still have the power to hobble Trump in all the ways that the Senate Rs have enabled him.

And we can get a second bite at the impeachment apple. Sure as shit he'll commit plenty more impeachable offenses in his second term. Probably by 11:07a on day one.

@Sgt_Spanky
Now you are talking pragmatic. Bernie is not talking about how he will get things done in Washington when Obama was put Obama like a lame duck President without any legislation or accomplishment for 6 years. The Senate is likely to stay or increase Republican seats and the House may gain Republican seats in 2020. How the hell can Bernie can get anything done? Is he talking about it?

@St-Sinner Who do you support for Prez and why?

@Sgt_Spanky I liked Buttigieg very much but am aware he is not electable. Elizabeth Warren assures me of her intelligence, ability to connect with voters and her enthusiasm to kick Trump's ass. But she falling behind. It is possible that happened because Trump is propping Bernie's candidacy because he believes Bernie's nomination would be his dream come true.

Sadly, we have already lost the election. Thanks to the lousy, mean looking, vengeful optics of the Democratic leadership which has already delivered the re-election to Trump on a silver platter in 2020. Don't believe me. Books will be written about it in the years to come.

@St-Sinner As I suspected: You like Trump. Thanks for the clarification.

@St-Sinner I'm surpsised to see Warren's name here. I expected you'd be strictly for Biden, Buttigieg, or Bloomberg. There's hope for you yet.

@Bobbyzen I hope you had the grasp to look at issues and look beyond a blind passion.

@St-Sinner Did you not read what I wrote? I break down the top talking point of the Koch-backed interviewee’s “takedown” of Bernie. Read it. I would break down the rest of his right-wing talking points for you as well if I thought it would move you even one iota from your Fix-news-filled position.

@Bobbyzen

  1. Trump is not my candidate
  2. Republican party is not my party
  3. I want my army and my general to be strong, I don't sit here bitch about the enemy. I prepare
  4. Who cares about Koch or Soros and the types?
  5. Why do you not instead look at your weak candidate and see if we have our shit together?

This shows that you are blinded my passion about your candidate, not see the weakness and will give away this election to Trump. That is sad.

1

That darn Bernie! As if being old or being a Commie wasn't bad enough, Bernie is both!

Thank you. Please spread the word and save our Democracy and the Democratic Party.

0

Sanders is too old, Trump is too old, Eisenhower was too old.

Old is not a problem. They are all old. But others are not as fucked up as Bernie is in their minds.

1

I have to agree. Sanders is too old, but more importantly too Jewish. I love his "socialist" (left-of-center) ideology...I share it. If anything it doesn't go far enough.
BUT since liberals don't vote in high enough numbers to support a truly liberal candidate, a more *moderate" (conservative) candidate stands a much better chance...a Warren, or Bloomberg.
It's too bad, but that's probably the truth.

Thank you. Please spread the word and save our Democracy and the Democratic Party.

Warren is weak and Bloomberg has too much dirt under his rug and I don't think we want to replace one "Billionaire with another Billionaire"...the Tax base is shifted too far as it is...it needs to be reversed.

@phoenixone1 I think Mike knows that. Unlike the other guy, he came by his billions honestly.

@Storm1752 your correct about that BUT he came into it too late and he has the "stop and frisk" thing hanging over his head...he has publicly agreed to throw his weight(assuming he means his money) behind WHOEVER gets the nod...i can respect that...

2

Once again, I get it, you don't like Sanders. So, noted.

But it is not about me. It is about warning and saving the American people that includes you. Sometimes saving from yourself is also necessary.

@St-Sinner LOL, yeah right.

@St-Sinner Out of curiosity, who are you voting for?

@MrDragon
Trump is going to be definitely re-elected. I am watching all the sorry state of affairs of Harry Reid, Pelosi and democrats and democratic candidates for too long. We have failed each time and republicans and Trump have kicked our ass sore each time. If Bernie is nominated I will not a part of the suicide mission. I will sit this one out and wait to see if you over enthusiastic and blind bernie supporters and especially the Democratic party learn any lessons from the historic debacle. You go ahead. I like Elizabeth warren but sadly she is collapsing.

@MrDragon your going to hear nothing but crickets with that question...St-Sinner is nothing but a Republican TROLL...same old same old...

@St-Sinner How nice that your time is preoccupied with politics, mine isn't so much, however, being derogatory is not going to help you much with me or anyone else for that matter. Besides, it all depends largely on the Caucus and who is nominated. You are being like premature ejaculation, blowing your wad before you know the outcome.

@MrDragon Naked Truth often brings out negatives about propped up heroes. That is the job of a truth teller. Everything I said above is the truth. Bernie is a far left extremist, Bernie is Jewish, Bernie is old and a patient after a heart attack, Bernie is a self declared socialist and it is No No in American politics... everything is true. Is it not? You have a problem with the truth?

@St-Sinner LOL, funny thing I am a atheistic Jew, and it seems that you have a problem with Jews. And by the way, it's only your truth, and nothing more.

@MrDragon That is a wrong conclusion. I am not racist or anti-semitic. I have a black friend and I have a Jewish friend. LOL.

What we are talking about here is the strength of candidacy in total. Bloomberg is Jewish, I have seen his rise from Day 1 in New York, I think he is fantastic but also know the country will not elect him. At the same time, I know that Bloomberg has the ability to surprise me and that would be a sweet surprise I would love to have. I cannot say the same about Bernie because all of campaign and propping up is marred by extremism, passion, dreams and not pragmatism. If it was about pragmatism, you would see Bernie is a terrible candidate in the most dangerous times of American politics.

@St-Sinner interesting, then why did you even bring up the fact that he is jewish as if that was a mark against him?
Truth? What is truth? Truth is a matter of one's perspective and one's opinion. That is truth.

@MrDragon I brought up the fact that he is Jewish because it is well publicized that the following demographics are not electable in American Presidential elections. It is a the naked truth. Begin living with it.

Our nation is not ready to elect any of these demographics. It is unfortunate but denying it is living in a la la land.
a. Gay
b. Mormon
c. Atheist
d. Muslim
e. Hindu
f. Jewish
g. Self proclaimed white supremacist
e. Self declared socialist (Bernie)
............
f. A black president is also very unlikely for another 15 years. Obama was a very rare exception. He was very good, he came during a perfect storm (anger against Iraq war, against Bush and Cheney, also about Rumsfeld, serious economic meltdown, and a lousy candidate like McCain). This storm will not happen again. America's white majority will elect an average white candidate than a twice as good black candidate if all other things are normal. It has to be a perfect storm.

@St-Sinner well, nevertheless, who ever they nominate will be the one running, and I will vote for that person, be sanders or who ever. That you can take to the bank.

@MrDragon It is a lost fight, with Bernie the loss will be bigger. It is the price we pay for a lousy, vengeful leadership who does mean and sinister politics instead of doing people's work in Washington. Everybody is getting paid in Washington, where the common man has a meal tonight or not. McConnell, Pelosi and others have lush health benefits, all perks and power and they think there are no consequences. Oh well, they are just coming in November 2020. Democrats have made Trump's re-election easier and will lose more seats in the Senate and the House in 2020.
