Too many people on this site are focused on Trump as the bad guy and NOT on the long game. This edition of Bill Maher includes Nancy MacLean, American History professor and author of Democracy in Chains. A must read for Americans IMNSHO. She also referees to the constitutional changes wanted by the right wing. Should the focus be on Trump or the crisis facing the US because of the right wing Oligarchs?
Removing Trump is only the first step in working on the long term problems of systemic corruption.
There's only one nonviolent way to change the Constitution, and it means using the present system cleverly and effectively. All the other options involve Bloodshed and violence.
I'm more pessimistic than that. I think systemic change or revolution in the US will inevitably be violent. The ruling class will not allow anything less, and I'm also afraid the good guys will lose that one.
I think the political system is already too firmly under the control of the Right wing oligarchs. The system can no longer be changed using the system. The system is too rigged.
Violence is out too as a solution. An army of Left wing protesters armed with assault weapons would be quickly out numbered by the NRA supporting Right wing militias, not to mention a regular army under the control of the president armed with tanks and helecopters, etc.
The only alternative I can think of is to establish an alternative political system and an alternative economic system.
Trump is the symptom, not the disease that is killing the US.
