I can't do the Chicken Little over the Coronavirus, but I can poke fun at the people that do. And, just in case I can throw fuel on the fire, I'd like to put an alternate theory out there for consideration. What if this is NOT one of the familiar bacteria and viruses that have evolved along side of us for a couple of hundred thousand years? What if this disease was contained in ice and permafrost now melting and bringing all kinds of things to light? What if it blissfully floated along on that plastic garbage raft and finally found it's way to us? It would serve us right, don't you think? Look at all the horrific damage we've done since clawing our way to the top of the predator heap. Dinosaurs reigned much longer than Homo Sapiens. All the harm they did was to decompose into fossel fuels. Check out the beach on July 5th. That's who we are. .
In no way does your "What ifs" constitute science (conjecture is NOT a scientific theory).
Have you been watching too much science fiction ?
Can't be known for sure where the virus originated but she has a valid point as noted in the couple of articles which I had read before and googled easily enough.

@Mark013 Conjecture is not a valid point, and certainly not (scientifically) a theory -- notwithstanding (unrelated?) viruses in glaciers.
