I just heard a news report on the president’s trip to India. According to Trump, India is incredible, with incredible people and even the food is incredible. How about that Taj Mahal? just incredible.

In 1984 Orwell teaches us the horror of the ruling class dumbing down the working class – the proles. One effective way to do it is to minimize the use of words, more and more until language is reduced to basic signs of good or bad, or just grunts.. Things were good or ungood, and instead of words like wonderful or stupendous, things were + good. If it’s magnificent or spectacular, ++ good. With language brought down to a few words, the proles had as much chance of rebellion as barn animals against the farmer.

Notice the way the younger generation uses the word “Awesome.” When I was their age the word was rarely heard or used – meaning magnificent and inspiring awe and wonder. The Grand Canyon was awesome, or the universe itself.

But today you might hear some a kid saying, “That steak dinner was awesome, what an awesome song, or some good comment, just awesome.” It’s for sure religions don’t want a deep-thinking people analyzing everything they say. It’s for sure that Big Business wants people that will believe anything. And it’s for sure Big Government wants non-thinking, contented consumers that will buy anything just to keep the economy going no matter what it does to the environment.

Have you heard any duckspeak lately? – A mindless rant praising the president and the job he’s doing? Awesome.

Remember when everything was "sweet"? Or when they were "neat"? When things were "rad"? What about "gnarly"? Weren't things "far out"? "Totally"! How about when everything was "the tops"? We've always had slang, and it's always been a simplistic way of communicating. What a "drag," huh?! I know it's "wack," but that's "my bad."

Yes but at least we had a variety of words and descriptiions. The point I was making is that a man of such power and responsibility should have a wider vocabulary.

@Aristippus I know Trump went to college sometime, but I doubt he did much listening or learning then, kinda like now.....

@Aristippus Ah, I though you were making a broader comment because you brought up the "younger generation" in your post. I guess I misunderstood your meaning.

@resserts President Trump just said that his meeting was tremendous and the results were incredible. Awesome!

How about love? That used to be a word for special feelings for another person or pet. Now ppl. love their i-pads, etc...

Sarcasm alert in advance....You obviously haven't gotten with the program yet. Everything is "double-plus good", as Orwell would say...

I consider 1984 one of the most important books ever written. It gets more and more true, more and more relevant as the years past by.

@Aristippus More and more true? By now it's freakin' non-fiction....

@TomMcGiverin What a geat man was George Orwell. He died without any idea what a great and important writer he was.

@TomMcGiverin This is relevant, showing what a genius he was. He died right after WWII and he said the scariest sight he ever saw in his life was the goose-stepping SS marching through the strees of Paris. The solders were part of a machine.

..beyond our Narcissist-in-Chief's style of stupidity … his is not the description of India I’ve more recently heard.. Having been informed of the severe air pollution, even at the higher altitude of some ‘temples,’ it’s extreme overcrowding and horrendous poverty was enough to traumatize a couple I know ..who’s adult dreams had been to ‘experience it.’

Obviously, trump never hit the streets…

Thanks for the reply. It's certain the president looks down from an ivory tower at the riff-raft on the street. He has no idea what real life is like. He's incredible.
