In an effort to retain our solitary sanity let's post some of our most embarrassing moments. Of course I will go first. To really understand my post you must go back to the days when you thought you could do anything..
Typing wasn't available till high school for me and I made an A in typing 80 something on a manual. When I started looking for a job everyone had an electric. I still remember trying to bluff my way through an electric typewriter exam. 1st hitting the keys that would do nothing then having the typewriter turned on for me and the keys going crazy. I did not get the job But I learned to look for the on switch.
In my younger days, i was somewhat of an athlete, At a large track meet where there was considerable fanfare as the made the introductions for the lane assignments, I left my warmups on until just before getting into the starting blocks. Normally you just slide your hands between the warmups and your shorts and peel them off, then step out of them. I slid my hands in, peeled off my warmups and had just mooned 20,000 people. My shorts came off with my warmups. I took ribbing for that for several years.
Insects and I , well , we are not friends . Not even a “ hello “ basis . I don’t like them , and they don’t like me , and that’s fine . My nemesis is roaches . I haven’t seen one in 5-6 yrs, but every time I ve seen one b4, yeah , the sky is falling .
If in public , not problem , someone will take care it for me . If near my house or in my house , i have been known for going bananas .
10 yrs ago at a visit at Smithsonian, there was a room that visitors could held the great Madagascar roach , I guess she is famous for some great reason ( hissing sound as I found out ). And I told myself , wtf , is now or never . Get to know the enemy , give it a shot , be brave , and all the other crap that we read on inspirational memes on nowdays
So I did . The lady placed on my forearm . That fat bug took few steps . That’s the last thing I remember .
When I woke up , I was on the ground w bunch of museum personnel around , and I had pee on my self . Yep .
Nice paddle , so embarrassed
I had a knee hight dress , and I was there alone . In fact , it was one of the first trips I took after the divorce .
A very nice woman took me aside , I will never forget her kindness and empathy . She pulled out of her bag panties and sweat pants. Belonged to her Down syndrome teen daughter that she was also there . The girl was soo happy to give it to me ♥️
I bought a t shirt at gift shop and I was ok .
The lady refused lunch or ice cream or anything I offered . I think of her and I smile . What a nice human .
I wasn't embarrassed, but at a private reception, hosted in honour of a Brazilian fellow called Pele, I shook his hand and asked him what he did for a living. He seemed bemused!
@MissKathleen Nowadays, I know who he was, but in 1977, living in darkest Africa, I had no knowledge of international football.
I've shaken hands and spoken with many "celebrity class" people over the years. It came with the job.
