It finally happened.
Went to the office and they said go home we telecommute now.
Too bad we didn’t start when it became technically possible. It would have saved us tons of atmospheric carbon.
I guess people understand viruses, but it’s hard for them to comprehend that driving will ultimately kill many species including our own.
It will so suck if the virus comes and goes and we all start driving around all the time again and we end of dying from global warming.
Maybe this will open some eyes concerning the endless work commute and its impact on our environment.

There are many positions that can work remotely.

A few years ago I due to the nature of my position, I had no reason to attend the office in Melbourne, I live about 150 miles out. Working from my home office was the easiest way to fill my role.

Due to office politics, however I was asked to attend the office twice a week. This not only cost money but reduced my productivity by around ten hours per week as I travelled by train.

Is that sensible?

Unfortunately, not everyone has the self discipline to work from home. Also, physical social interaction is essential for the health of most companies. However, a policy of Tuesday and Thursday you may work from home is a good idea. (Never Monday or Friday, it's too near the weekend!)
Strangely, this strategy is counter productive on building sites! 🤣🤣

Just beware of the wanking.

@Donotbelieve his wife's lovely, too. She's also hypersmart, works in entertainment and as a writer, but also has a sideline in professional poker. Her total winnings are around $2.5 million.

There's an aerial photo of China that shows how the air pollution has cleared due to the virus. You are on target that this sort of disruption could have long-lasting benefit if we pay attention and change our ways ... you ought to run for office and take charge.

Where’s the photo?

One of the biggest obstacles to telecommuting are managers who are either control freaks (gotta see you work or else I don't believe you are) or don't fully understand/able to use/learn the software required to telecommute.

This should expose both types and hopefully cull them a bit.
