From the WIRED article: “Inconveniently, ideal glass would take so long to form that it may not have done so in all of cosmic history.”

If pursuing an ideal keeps a physicist out of prison, it has done the world a service.

Ummm, what? It is found in campfires if built on the correct type of sand. It is found in the debris of nuclear reactions (like an atom bomb) all you need is the correct, or close to correct, combo of silica sand & heat.
