If pursuing an ideal keeps a physicist out of prison, it has done the world a service.

Ummm, what? It is found in campfires if built on the correct type of sand. It is found in the debris of nuclear reactions (like an atom bomb) all you need is the correct, or close to correct, combo of silica sand & heat.
