More COVID-19 drive-up testing sites created as Illinois confirms first virus death
COVID-19 PANDEMIC
by: Nancy Loo
Update Friday...we now have a testing site about 20 miles away at a small hospital, must be ordered by a doctor, for people with symptoms only, but a milestone nonetheless
Testing done in drive through sites are the most efficient use of protective clothing masks gloves by testing personnel...waiting to go to the emergency room with severe symptoms is not a good plan
Iowa has 68 positives zero deaths in 17 of 99 counties 1100 tests by the state laboratory
758 billion this year for weapons profiteering illegal wars in 160 countries murdering 10 million muslims for their oil & resources since 1982 ReaGUN borrowing 23 trillion but it's not affordable to save lives prevent disease and get rid of insurance companies taking 60% of healthcare money for profits and mahogany board rooms full of lobbyists to bribe ALL OF CONGRESS.... hiding from death is less scary than fearing EcoSocialism ??? $$$$ WWW.HOWIEHAWKINS.US we Greens are neither hiding nor scared ....BidenS = TrumpOLINI both will not merge all healthcare resources into one excellent system protecting all citizens equally
Well considering that the CDC is court ordering Dr to only test people who have been out of the country it seems like a false pretense of real response. If you present to Dr with cough and breathing related issue you will not be tested for covid. Even healthcare workers aren't getting tested. I know of someone who caught covid in Chicago public area. Only tested because had been out of country several weeks ago. Unless you are wealthy enough. Enough $$ and you can buy a test.
That has changed
@TheoryNumber3 where?
@AnneWimsey Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge, IL
@TheoryNumber3 Not in Wisconsin. Given the covid- run- around by state hotline yesterday and urgent care centers.
Also note the qualifier, pre authorized by Dr. How does Dr qualify you, by following CDC guidelines.
@Flowerwall It's in the article "If the physician believes testing is appropriate based on symptoms, the patient will be instructed to head over to the drive-up testing center, Citronberg said." I'm not debating you. I'm just providing facts from the article.
@TheoryNumber3 You are presenting facts from an article and I am including words spoken to me from my personal experience yesterday. We have that clarified now.
@Flowerwall I'm sorry your state hasn't progressed further. Each state seems to be making its own rules based on their situation.
We had our first today in Pennsylvania too. Italy had their worst day yet, 450 in 24 hours. We are just getting started.
Not quite. Italy reported 475 dead in their 6pm release of figures, 319 of them in Lombardia. Positive cases now 36,000. The "good" news is that the rate of infection is levelling out, and the number of recovered people has leapt up.
CT today reported its' first death as well...we have No testing sites, or tests/testing places that i know of.
Update, approx. 100 deaths as of today, Thursday. Still no testing/testing places........
I have a cousin - my favorite cousin actually - in Meridan, CT.
Please research just how widespread this is. The CDC is only allowing testing of ppl who have been out of country, which means enormous swathes of ppl with breathing related issue are not being tested. Please pass it on. It is very concerning.
Connecticut has a coronavirus website that refers people to the CDC's guidance on whether you should be tested.
Call your provider or local health department for more information.
NBC News reached out to the Connecticut State Department of Health with additional questions and is awaiting a response.

@TheoryNumber3 yeah, sounds great, but are there any actual test kits? That would be NO
@AnneWimsey My apologies. I didn't realize it was that bad in Connecticut. There's no excuse for this. If That jackass in the white house hadn't fired the entire Pandemic Response Team, and then lied about the severity of the pandemic, we all would have been better prepared for this.
@TheoryNumber3 Please read up on this. It is very concerning. It is a struggle to get much needed medical supplies. [thehill.com] The thought has crossed my mind that maybe Democrat governors are exaggerating, but this article mentions Republican Governors as well.
Additionally it is very stressful to see the reality of this. Case numbers are exploding- being sick or having family sick is a God awful experience at this time.
@TheoryNumber3 "The governor said that because of shortages of coronavirus tests, they are being reserved for those who may be critically ill, as well as healthcare workers on the front lines of the outbreak." This is on 3/20/20. You will not be tested for covid if you present to Dr with breathing related issues only "critically ill" [nbc15.com]
