How the US paid for WWII after an almost 10 year depression. And it can be done again for COVID-19 and the climate crisis. But it violates the principles of the Libertarian, Neoliberal capitalism the world lives under now where only oligarchs matter and everything else is a commodity to be bought and sold for the profit of the oligarchs. What is your opinion? Or is this too hard to understand?

As Americans we are told to deride state controlled means of production because that is Communism! But look at what we are doing now. The new Defense Production Act orders private businesses to manufacture face masks and ventilators etc.

As Americans we are told to deride Socialism because that is un-American. But during an economic crisis we bail out big businesses. This is corporate Socialism!

I'm not saying this is wrong. I'm for it. I'm just saying our capitalist corporate masters are hypocritical as hell!!

However, countries that simply print more money eventually hit a problem - it becomes worthless.
It is all to do with "perceived" value, as opposed to "real" value.
Let me explain it the following way.
A famous painting has a perceived value of one million dollars, despite the fact that it's real value was around 25 hours of work and, say, 25 dollar's worth of canvas and oils.
Then one day the painting is shown to be a brilliant forgery, probably requiring more skill than the original "great master" himself possessed.
The painting plunges down in value, despite being exactly the same as it always was. It has lost its perceived value. The same rules apply to stock markets, by the way.
As long as the populace perceive the freshly minted money to have a value, then well and good, but woe betide the government that oversteps the mark.

@ToolGuy That faith is perceived value.

Sounds about right. We peons are just serfs to be exploited, profited from, and then left to die in the gutter once we are broke, as far as the ruling class is concerned. Too bad most peons haven't woke up to that yet and become ready to revolt.
