I understand everyone wants something more after we die but I have to be realistic. There is no proof of such a thing and let's face it, human beings cannot comprehend such thoughts. I rely on science. Science is what will save us from the Coronavirus, not prayers.

"I understand everyone wants something more after we die"
then you understand incorrectly

I want nothing more after I die. Eternal consciousness would be excruciating, and timeless, mindless bliss would be pointless. Non-existence is my ultimate desire, and what I think is awaiting me.

As for science versus prayer, you're preaching to the (de-)converted.

Our contribution is NOW- the here and now.

Do we all want something more?

I don't. I want nothingness. The concept of eternity is unbearable.

We are in heaven right now. Every moment of conscious awareness is timeless.

“We” just don’t know what we are. That’s all.

"We are in heaven right now. "
Seriously? Wow that is fucked up man.

@LenHazell53 In the sense that so-called “heaven” is a higher realm existing beyond our sense-world, it can be thought of as reality at large. We already exist in ultimate reality but are engrossed in sensory experience and we continuously create a pseudo reality in our imaginations.

As I see it, ultimate reality is not something to which a person should aspire upon death. There is nothing about our individual bodily selves that is worth immortality anyway, and the sense of individual self is illusory.

All this is a way to snatch the heaven concept away from mindless supernatural mumbling, interpret it in terms of nature and make it palatable to those with a scientific mindset.

Reality is not What it Seems, is a wonderful book by Carlo Rovelli who describes himself as an atheist, and he tells us that time does not exist. If he is correct, our silly mumbling about afterlives is nothing but meaningless drivel.

Reality is not what it seems. It is more—much more!
