death rates are good tools on a macro level, but on a micro level they tell you little to nothing. they may involve nothing more than societal ability reach a decision vice any physical trait and as we pull out the scope to weed out such irregularities they lost all meaning at all on a micro level.

I reckon it is genetic. In almost all animals females outlast males, because males divert more resources into body mass in order to increase their reproduction chances. Hence, they become more vulnerable to ailments.

@Petter it MAY be and it also may be any one of dozens of factors all adding together. thats the whole point.

I saw a follow up BBC article on that report that theorized the difference to lifestyle choices of smoking and drinking. Since it was BBC they were looking at European culture and more men in Pubs.
