Very interesting neurological study. Are men & women so different? I think the study has some truth. A lot is environmental. According to the science there is little fundamental structural or working difference.
The Female Brsin and The Male Brain by Dr. Louann Brezendine, a neuropsychiatrust, are excellent books detailing the formation of both brains, explaining differences. The reasons for some of the differences are very interesting.
Yeh they are different .. I think fundamentally is the thing. The evidence may all be wiped out by studies into neuroplasticity and the relationship of the brain to environmental factors yet lol.. It's so complex isn't it .. I will look that up thanks as never heard of it !! It's always good to get as many points of view and flavours as possible !! My fave part of neuroscience is Dr Ramachandra Chakrabati doing his talks on his cures for phantom limb syndrome pain in amputee's.... He worked out that the pain those people feel in the limb that had vanished (which is sometimes unbearable and like the day they lost it) could be erased by putting a mirror there.. so their mind saw a leg although it was the other leg.. All the brain needed was the cortex to be fed that way by the right visual info to null out the pain response ... Absoloutely incredible scientist!!! Thanks again !! Check out the phantom limbs it's nuts
There have been some excellent programmes on BBC4 (UK TV that I watch on the internet thanks to Filmon.com) and a most fascinating one of these showed how women's brains are more heavily connected across the hemispheres whilst those of men are more heavily connected front to back of each hemisphere.
Hence, men have an advantage when it comes to rapid reactions (as in hunting, fighting) and women in multitasking and reasoned decision making. (nest making and handling offspring) Not that either sex has a monopoly in those fields, as there are variations within the wiring schemes.
Interesting read, thank you
Pleasure!!
