Does anyone still balance their checking account? I look at mine everyday, I know what is coming in and going out. Most of my utilities are on level billing. I'm the only one with access to the account. I set up the account 4 years ago, I haven't "balanced" it, ever.

I know how to balance a checkbook. I do it once in a while with my payee. I write checks as well still. 3 of my bills come off my card as autopay.

If you always check it, no need to balance like we used to!

I do daily

I keep track of what goes in & out, what hits & when & a running tally on my balance as things come & go. Checkbook, no but definitely keep a registry.

I did that up until about a year and a half, or two years ago. Now, I also just check it online frequently.

Yes. Always keep a finger on it. It makes me happy to see someone whip out a checkbook at the grocery store. Electronic banking takes a lot of value out of money for me.

What do you mean by your last sentence? The lack of something physical or???

I don't think I have ever balanced a check book. 🙂
I do keep a bill book from which all bills are marked down for the date payment was sent and the amount payed. All bill are payed by mail. I don't think I will ever allow a company to pull money directly from my accouny with out me approving it first.

Yep!

No, not for years.

I don't think I ever have, as I never have written a check without knowing the money is there to cover it. Also have the account linked to savings - " no overdraft " protection.

Yes, I balance my account every other day. Having a background in finance, it's hard for me not to. Now, come the end of the day, however much I spend on a debit card is rounded up to the dollar and the change is put into my savings. Only a few cents a day but it's a reason to balance the account to the penny.

Only when statements come in (electronic). Otherwise, having overdraft & instant email alerts renders following it unnecessary. My kid thinks my even doing that much (with a paper register) is silly since everything is online; I like a paper trail of Some kind.
