Trump and the obstructionist republicans are now changing the CARES Act which is Law on who gets payments!!!
Originally people on SS, SSDI, SSI, and Disable Vetrerans were to receive the payments under the CARES Act because they are already registered on file with the Department of the Treasury.
Now trump and the obstructionist republicans are forcing additional paperwork using the IRS to throttle payments for those who are ready registered with the Department of the Treasury!!!
This nothing more than attacking and another effort to deny Veterans, the elderly, the disabled, the infirm, and the poor their rights under the CARES Act!!!

A lot of misinformation going around. Here is the official IRS notice. [irs.gov] Only If you haven't filed taxes and are under retirement age will you have to go through more steps. Older people on SS will get paid since they get a statement every year from SS and they will use that information including direct deposit info. Paper checks will be mailed for people without direct deposit but that will take longer.

This is false. This only applies to people who do not collect SS, Railroad Retirement, or other Federal cash payments and do not file a Federal Income Tax return. This is a method to identify these people and provide a means to pay them. Please verify your assertions before you spread false information.

A brief recent history of Republican obstructionism. When Obama came to office the Republican Tea Party vowed to block all Bill's put forward by Obama and the Democratic Congress. The Tea Party openly opposed anything brought forward the first two years of Obama's first term.
A Republican backlash to Obama allowed Republicans to reclaim the Senate. The Tea Party became replaced by the Freefom caucus. Enter Mitch McConnel. On Oct. 23rd, 2010 upon reclaiming the Senate bowed to make Obama a one term President. His meaning, he intended to use his position of Senate Majority Leader to block all Democratic bills regardless of their importance to the nation. By refusing to bring bills for debate and vote for the next ten years, he and his fellow Republicans substantially holding the legislative process hostage. He fulfilled his promise for intransigence and obstructionism.
I bring this up as Trump continually calls Democrats obstructionists. If they are, they learned if from the best obstructionists around.

As a preemptive measure, Go to the irs.gov site, download the pdf forms, input $10 in interest payments on line 2b, put in your banking information on line 21b Routing number and 21c account number, sign it and mail it in. This is the method we used when GWB did his rebate. The law requires that IRS input all the information on the return, even if it is zero. Most free filing services won't allow you to input this information in this manner, so the work around is to mail it in.
