I disagree. Taiwan (the separate country which is not associated with the Communist country of China... Yep I said it ) is doing just fine. They are capitalist. China welds people's doors shut, kills and imprisons people for speaking out, and simply burns the bodies while hiding the numbers. There is no transparency with the CCP. We don't need to shut the economy. Selective quarantine of high risk populations, mandatory mask use and or 6ft distancing, shut down the border and tracing, and of course wide spread testing from as many private labs as possible. everything could have been done better. But the CCP simply lies. They are not a model we want to copy.
