The Passover.
Jewish people celebrate the passover round about this time of year.
A celebration of their god killing the first born of all non Jewish people in Egypt.
I thought I would learn a bit more about it so I googled "passover". what came up "ten fun facts about passover". ffs
My Paternal Grandfather was Jewish and it is called passover because the angel of death "Passed over" the houses whose door post were painted with the blood of a lamb and so were spared the death of the first born.
The whole story of the plagues is screwed up, because as the Torah admits GOD hardened the heart of the pharaoh so that he would not let the Jews go free no matter how many plagues where visited on Egypt until the death of the first born.
SO god was on the one hand demanding the release of "his" People and punishing the Egyptians for NOT letting them go, while at the same time forcing their King to defy him and bring about more plagues.
Even after the plague of the first born, gawd again hardened the heart of pharaoh and sent him after the Jews just so god could kill them too by drowning them in the red sea.
This is the Torah's version of a loving god and responsible actions by same.
Further to which, one has to ask why the houses of the Jewish slaves had to be marked with lamb's blood?
Any all-knowing God would have known which they were - and any idiot would have known the hovels in which the slaves lived.
It says in the bible that god made man in his image, I think the term "man made god in his image" is more accurate.
If the Jewish people made their god yaweh in their image they were a particularly nasty bunch.
Here's something interesting. From Chabad.org
"Six hundred thousand adult males, plus many more women and children, left Egypt on that day and began the trek to Mount Sinai and their birth as G‑d’s chosen people."
Allowing for equal males to females that makes 1.2 million adults. Allowing for an equal number of children to adults brings the total to 2.4 million.
Now comes the really interesting bit:-
The TOTAL population of Egypt at that time, including slaves, is estimated to have been 2.5 to 3 million people.
Once again religion equates to bullshit exaggerations.
Archaeologists have searched the desert and found no evidence of people having lived there for four years never mind forty years.
