Turns out Kansas has recently passed a law that LIquor sales are banned on easter. These last few years the blue laws had finally been relaxed. F#$k god.
Wow, KS -- just 15 years ago :
Thank you for that, now to get a hold of this guy and see what it takes to become an ordained minister
I moved from Kansas City back to Texas 6 years ago. I used to live off of State Line on the Missouri side. It’s been long enough ago that I can’t remember the numbers however I do remember the amount of revenue generated by the liquor stores on the Missouri side of State Line dwarfed those of competitors only blocks away. HYVEE had a grocery store on the Kansas side and built a liquor store direct across the street on the Missouri side in hopes of not loosing business. It all seemed ridiculous to me back then and I figured Kansas would have evolved past the silly blue laws by now. I feel your pain though. Here in Texas the blue laws are still in effect. No liquor stores are open on Sundays. You can go to a restaurant and get drinks but they can’t bring it to your table until you have some kind of food item in front of you first. I honestly believe that is where the trend of garnishing the hell out of Bloody Marys came from. Put a strip of bacon, boiled, shrimp, olives, and a stalk of celery in it and you have successfully navigated a legal loophole...
