The Shadow Of Your Smile. - Andy Williams

I posted this song in Music Of The Movies group yesterday...thought I’d post it here too. From 1965 film The Sandpiper which starred Elizabeth Taylor & Richard Burton.

Andy Williams had a lovely voice, & we used to watch his show on tv all the time.

Music I can actually understand the words! Love it! 💕

How old were you when you first saw it?
I never actually took to Andy Williams, I always felt his singing was a bit "insipid".

It wasn’t actually sung at all in the film...this was recorded later when words were put to the music by Paul Francis Webster, it was then recorded by many artists including Tony Bennett and the one I posted here...Andy Williams. The song, which won a Grammy and the Academy Award for best original song was written by Johnny Mandel and performed on the trumpet on the movie soundtrack by Jack Sheldon. Andy Williams isn’t a big favourite of mine either, but I do like him singing this.
