Here in Mojacar we now have the local police coming round to every house to hand out a free mask to everyone who is on the town hall register of residents.
This, of course, ensures a fair distribution and prevents hoarding, but is tough luck to all those "dodgers", who are living here without registering and avoiding any tax.

This is nice of them but what about the chance that they also are spreading the virus?

I'm curious if we have any reported shootings of those wearing masks? Especially if you are close to someone's property and wearing one at night. You might have been in fear for your life.

The distribution technique is that they ring the doorbell or knock, then step back. You open the door. They are wearing masks and gloves, and ask you for your national identity number. You call it out and they mark it off on their list, then place the correct number of sealed masks on the ground. Once they have retreated, you collect them, carry them indoors, then wash the plastic package and your hands - just to be sure!
Fortunately, here in Spain, gun laws are strict and shooting someone on or near your property would almost certainly end up in the shooter being charged with murder. There would have to be remarkably strong proof of "fear for life" even to have a lesser charge to answer.

@Petter In America, Zimmerman, the cop and security guard wannabe got away with it because he was "in fear for his life." Since that time cops themselves have even used this shooting defense. Much of this is because we have no strict gun laws. A friend of mine told me that with the virus scare we have today you can buy a gun in a more relaxed manner but cannot buy over one a week. If true, it is absurd. I wonder if this is borne out of the fear of someone spitting on you?

@DenoPenno Someone should produce a cartoon showing a gun rights activist using an automatic to shoot the Covid-19 virus using a microscope to see it instead of a telescopic lens. The shooter would, of course, be wearing a MAGA hat!
Unfortunately, I cannot draw. Got any friends who can?

@SeaGreenEyez Exactly. My responses on this are geared toward making the rest of us use that same excuse to our own advantage. Today is only a beginning of a recession greater than the Great Depression. People want goods and they hoard goods in panic. With no work or little work, the next step is coming into your house to see what you have. Increased home invasions and robbery are right around the courner.

@SeaGreenEyez I started believing you at the second paragraph. Maybe home invasion is the wrong word. What I am trying to express is people hungry people with no money and no food, no work and trying to take what you have. Perhaps my word choice here is wrong but I believe it entirely possible if this madness goes on at the current rate.

@SeaGreenEyez I hear you, Green Eyez, and for the most part you are right. I'm not speaking of guns and gun rights. I am speaking of the idiots who break in to steal and sell what you have, or steal your food, etc because they are out of work and have no money. My neighbor came over just this evening and told me it is going on in Sullivan, Mo. just 7 miles away. This is not a gun issue for me. It is a broke and hungry issue. I doubt that I would shoot anyone with my .22 but I would use my golf club on them if I was home and caught them.

@SeaGreenEyez You are clear enough for me to stop on this subject. I quit. 🙂
