Damn! I come on here and find out that, according to the bible and other holy books, there is no actual Hell.
I was looking forward to going there and, maybe, chatting with the Devil.
Now you tell me it doesn't exist!
How can I deal with this sense of disappointment?
Well, there is a hell. It's in Michigan. I'm not sure there is a devil there though they could all be devils. I've been there. They looked pretty normal to me but what do I know. I'm easily fooled
Your governor is giving him a pretty good run for the monery...
You could always become a Zoroastrian and hang out with Ahriman.
I think we make our own hell and we seem to be very good at it. The wars, torture, prisons, etc. Then the personal hell we drag ourselves into drugs, alcohol, sexual deviance, guilt, and mental illness.
There are all kinds of hells, personal, economic, environmental, communal, relational, and social.
So pick one that fits and speak to the appropriate devil and if it is personal then go to the nearest mirror.
Of late I have come to believe there is a hell and it is called heaven. Think of all the self-righteous people who would destroy others in the name of their god. The whole idea of religious morality basically says that if one needs religion (a system of rewards and punishment) to do the right thing one is basically bad. Who is the better person; the one who behaves just before Christs mass (where Christmas came from) so they will get presents or the one who is good the whole year? Imagine what happens when 'good' people get their final reward. Just like the child who becomes their true self after the holiday so would these people be after gaining heaven (remember it is not about basic personality but words, thoughts and deeds). So heaven is basically a place full of bad people who once followed the rules of behavior set up by their perspective sects which may include violence and destruction. They now have their reward and can be their true selves.
