It would be a very small god indeed that would lack the sense of humour to create Atheists and not find it funny that his own creation did not believe in a creator. Even if a supreme being did materialize on this planet, how could anyone bring themselves to worship such a petty god?

The pedantic nature of these attempts by non-religious to explain their position (s) makes my head want to explode.
It was an interesting article but the only reason I even click on the post is because Surfpirate is on my follow list. I don't spend much time in the Religion & Spirituality group. 🙂
That said I just wish people would take more responsibility for themselves - stop trying to explain life away as some invisible being's crap game in the sky and if you blow on those die hard enough you'll come up a winner.

I get it and I agree with your sentiment as it matches my own feelings on the subject. Still I have to acknowledge that religious thoughts are out there and try as I might I can never completely avoid them in my life. It is like being in an episode of the walking dead, just trying to build something worthwhile but then the damned walkers show up and make a mess of everything.

@Surfpirate I've never watched the walking dead series, from clips I've seen though it's a good analogy.
I got the eye roll down real well.

If I was given 100% incontrovertible truth that a first cause creator existed, and had constructed this world and the universe, there is no way I would ever worship it, and though I might accept it as the creator, I would never call it god.

What sort of supreme being would even consider being worshiped? Assuming the premise of a creator god made sense, it would have created us out of itself and that would be akin to a human demanding that the cells of its own body must fall down and worship the human whole. It makes no sense to me.

@Surfpirate That horendous monster god of the bible.

@LenHazell53 When you get past the childhood nightmares that religion tries so hard to program us with , Jehovah is really a bit of a laughable asshole, sort of like Trump in a Toga. lol

@ToolGuy We are a special breed, precious and rare. 😀

@ToolGuy Don't be too pleased, it's the special and precious that wind up cooked rare on the sacrificial altar, if history is any measure. 😉 lol

@Surfpirate perhaps so, except power hungry, dangerous lunatics seem to do a lot of very serious, very dangerous and utterly inhuman things in his name, Holy wars, Crusades, Inquisitions, persecutions, pogroms, genocide, witch hunts, heretic burnings, the list goes on and on.
And make no mistake if Trumpsu could do these same things you would see CNN reporters being publically burned in Time square with just that same level of religious zeal.

@LenHazell53 an imaginary friend in the sky is merely a reflection of what most people hold dear in their heart of hearts. 😟
