Does anyone know of anyone that converted to Christianity because of its wonderful teachings. I don’t and I was Christian for 30 years.

Every single person I know converted because of fear of hell. Look at our current situation. Fear makes people do crazy things.

Some Christian sects emphasize hellthreat way more than others. Others cherry pick the loving bits. If you grew up in authoritarian / fundamentalist circles you may not be very aware of the others. Visit an Episcopalian church some time, for example. Most of those are big on long ritualistic services but you'll never hear what an awful sinner you are from them.

Well my son converted to get married to a Catholic woman next Fall. I was shocked because he was raised agnostic/humanist by me and Jehovah's witness by his father.

My late partner's two oldest children did. The family had no religion but came from a Moslem country. I don't know why the daughter converted but she received her masters from Baylor and became S. Baptist. The son was talked into it by some friend (also S. Baptist). He is now a doctor married to a doctor and the wife didn't want anything to do with her mother-in-law and it caused a split.
Funny, but my father went from S. Baptist to Catholic also because of a friend.

Sounds like she is very impressionable

@abyers1970 Was. She was a lifelong atheist and wondered where she went wrong. She then realized critical thinking needs to be taught and encouraged. It usually doesn't come all by itself. As far as the daughter goes she thanked me for getting her away from Texass and her daughter. As far as the son goes he was in VA and she still communicated with him but said she would no longer go to VA and have to be insulted by his wife. Basically, it was her life and happiness and anyone who got in the way of that too bad for them.

My son who is now an atheist, Started going to church with school friends at the vulnerable age of 12. He became a born again Christian soon afterwards. When I asked him why he informed me that it was so wonderful to know that he had been forgiven for all the bad things he'd done in his past.

That certainly put me on a guilt trip because I wondered why he thought he was such a terrible person. I had evidently disciplined him in a way that gave him this impression . His great sins consisted of telling lies about doing his chores and other quite typical childish pranks. He was an atheist by the age of 14.

I don't know anybody who has converted to Christianity at all, its fading fast here in the UK. For a short while we had a US tele-evangelist channel on our TV, but it went because it got nowhere. Most people who stay in religion though seem to do so as just a social convention.
