Desantis is nothing more than tRumps lap dog. Willing to do anything he says in order to stay in his good graces instead of taking care of the people in his state. Even in these days when fox news is starting(slowly ever so slowly) to question some of the administrations responses Desantis can't get his face close enough to his dear leaders asshole trying to produce the sound bite's and numbers that trump wants to hear. remember when the right wing was against Obama's health care plans because of supposedly made up "Death panels for grandma and grandpa". Now their main talking point is that they should be glad to die for the economy.

They’re all tweaking those death-rates, nations, states, counties… And where testing is limited, even worse. But sure, let’s get back to normal - now!

If everything is normal they don't have to pay millions of people unemployment for one.

All elected officials decide based on forecasts about money/budget/economy vs public health and subsequent deaths. We can raise our voice for either "open" or "stay home" or in between. Ultimately, it is up to each of us to understand the risks and our personal precaution options. It is up to each of us to decide what is best for ourselves. I do not envy those who will be asked to go back to work knowing it puts them at risk.

The risk changes for all of us. If I choose to stay home yet more people become infected from moving around and contacting lots of people my risk just to get groceries goes way up.

@MizJ Agreed. If you live in a hot spot like NYC, then getting groceries delivered is wise. If you live in a rural county that has had only a handful of cases, then the risk of going to the grocery store is very small. Not zero, but tiny. And we can take personal protection. For example, before I enter the grocery store I put on my slightly dirty gardening gloves; I won't have direct hand contact with an infected surface and I won't be touching my face! It's not hazmat worthy but reduces my risk. (I'm in a high risk pool.)

@David_ver_3 In a rural county those few people that are positive were shopping in the same grocery store as the rest of the population and were likely spreading the virus for 2 weeks before showing symptoms.

The article is about discrepancies between deaths as reported by county coroners and the official death tables maintained by the state. The official state records do not show the deaths of non-residents.

So far as reopening, over half the states are beginning to reopen. I don’t see the connection.

I also don’t understand mockery and scorn being heaped on particular states Florida is a good state—as good as any other. Now is a time for unity and mutual support.

Due to the reporting discrepancies Covid-19 death data will not be made public in Florida. The money that I pay in taxes and fees funds that information, it is my right to know and crucial to the health and safety of those in this state.

I live in Floriduh, it is my right to speak out.

@MizJ Sure Coronavirus deaths are being made public. I look at the FL state website every day to see how many cases and deaths there are in Holmes County, very close to my location. I’m only interested in resident cases, not snowbirds.
