2. Politicizing the relationship with China.

It's clear that Trump intends to blame China for his own complete failure to reduce the pandemic. The 5/10 Press Conference demonstrated that he will use anti-Asian rhetoric to motivate his racist base. So, Trump is going to alienate our main trading partner for the sake of his reelection campaign. As always, this is in keeping with Putin's interests.

What is especially disgusting is how he is incorporating the right wing conspiracy claim that the virus was artificial and released from a Chinese lab. This claim has been denounced by numerous virologists after examining and comparing the virus RNA sequence with other known covid viruses. Trump has made the conspiracy claim himself, and instructed his stooges to repeat it. Again, an inflammatory racist lie in furtherance of his political campaign.

(While China may have been the origin of the virus, China also showed what steps were needed to minimize its impact. These are steps that Trump chooses to disregard to this day.)
