The hard-to-imagine alternate reality of 'the intellectual right'...
[newrepublic.com]
Thank you for this. I especially noted the phrase: “When a man concludes that any stick is good enough to beat his foe with—that is when he picks up a boomerang.” The 'any' stick is usually emotion. Why can't people learn from others? Do they think they are so different? Also, for me the term intellectual and right are oxymoron's. Right should be designated to show the political direction not as in right or wrong.
I see nothing remotely intellectual in this brand of conservatism. His ramblings come off as emotionally unhinged and selfish to a toxic degree.
"...wearing a mask is not a commentary on his own courage or virility, but a simple way to show concern and care for others who might be especially vulnerable to the ravages of Covid-19."
The conservatives that live near me CARE NOTHING FOR OTHERS. That's a large part of the difference between local mask wearers and anti-mask wearers that I have seen. If they endanger others, they don't give a damn.
Honestly, I say let those who claim death is preferable to "fearing disease" embrace it. I can stay in however long it takes, still living my life and enjoying more of it, I hope.
“The intellectual right “ sounds almost like an oxymoron in the present time!
Big cookies and pop ups, no thanks.
I think of it as the price of reading content of interest for free. Still annoying though.
@Allamanda I just ignore the Pop-ups! They are only a mild irritation.
@Fernapple Iim on an iPad...I don’t think there is much they can do to it,
@Marionville Yes I use a desktop, and the same one that I use for business and banking etc. so I have to be very careful.
