Third degree manslaughter: I got this from an answer in Quota: Third degree murder is also called voluntary manslaughter and more colloquially as a 'crime of passion'. Basically a murder committed intentionally but without premeditation. A murder commited in a sudden moment usually while under big emotional or mental stress.

I can hear the words of the attorney defending Derek Chauvin: “it was in the heat of the moment your honor. My client did not have the intention of causing any harm”. 🤮

This is third degree murder charge. It carries a prison sentence and US Attorney say he has enough for the burden of proof. This was enough to get an arrest. This charge can be escalated to Murder One, pending further evidence. I think that will happen.

I hope so. At some point that cop knew the guy was handcuffed and complaining of inability to breathe and he did not stop pressing needlessly with his knee.
