Apparently Biden is now considering two x-cops of color for the VP spot. Seems to me that is like pouring gas on the smoldering BLM fire, and shows neither the Rethuglicans nor the Demwitcrats care about the people.

There are a few progressives in congress and the senate, for example Bernie and AOC. However, most take PAC money and are blue Rethuglicans, who take their orders from corporations and right wing billionaires.
@EdEarl Reality dictates Dems play by the same crooked rules as Pubs. They TRIED to put in campaign finance laws but the Thugs in Congress and the Supreme Court did away with them. Don't you know that? Or do you not do Nuance and sophisticated thinking in general?
You want the Dems to fall on their swords in the name of ideologically purity? Go down in flames while shouting, "We we're right! See how principled we are?"

Possibly, politicians are full of it.
Senator Kamala Harris was not a cop, at least I couldn’t find that she was in her biography. She was a prosecutor, however, which in the George Floyd era could make her a toxic choice, given her record is more of the “tough-on-crime” stuff that makes Biden himself unappealing. Representative Val Demings, otoh, was indeed a cop—chief of police in Orlando, Fla.
I presume those are the two you’re referring to.
