This is a serous and honest request: For the benefit of the British could you please explain what Thanksgiving is supposed to be for? Honestly we don't have it here and while we have all heard of it nobody knows of its origins or customs.

Aww I'm sorry to hear that about your Thanksgiving, I really do think holidays should just be about family gatherings and friends, and just living life to the fullest and having fun. Religion is a bummer to me. Just enjoy the holidays and family and friend time, people.

Consider it as part of your cultural heritage. Generally Christianity is one of the better religions anyway. Just be glad your family isn't Jewish or Muslim.
