Why is it that the most irreverent people tend to cling to Christianity?

Christianity is just so hard to defend. It takes a special language that adheres to only religious definitions. And when forced to come to terms with reality, then differant degrees of defense are brought up. Everything from denial, to out right verbal or physical conflict. A persons beliefs are prized posessions, and if threatened are to be defended. Now I'm rambling. Be kind to yourself, and good luck with your life.

Being irreverent or showing a lack of respect for people or things that are generally taken seriously while at the same time showing respect for a lying, homophobic, misogynistic douche bag is what about 30% of Americans today do and the majority of that 30% are fundamentalist Christians. They cling because they believe in magic rather than facts.

Shakespeare said it best. “[He]that doth protest too much”

suggest that someone who is strongly denying something is hiding the truth

It’s not just Christianity and a tale as old as time.
