Who here likes gardening? I find it very relaxing, and like the idea of being able to grow stuff in my yard that is edible and aesthetic. But that's not always easy to do in a community that has an HOA. I'd love to hear about some of the interesting thing being grown in this scenario.

I also love gardening. The type I enjoy the most is my water garden. The water lilies, irises, and parrots feather. I have a dozen fish most of them koi. My favorite is "Koi George." I built it eighteen years ago and included three waterfalls.

We don't have a HOA here in my neighborhood so I grow vegetables in a garden every year. Nothing beats homegrown heirloom tomatoes picked fresh from the vine, warm from the sun, soaking up nutrients till right before you eat them. I highly recommend everyone with even just a 4 ft square patch of free land to grow a few!

I walk my area daily, some of the older ladies a few streets away have problems with garden nazis, complaining when they haven't mown the lawn in time. The guy who rents across the road from me complained that the guy who had just bought next to me had let his lawn grow too high. I was like, give him a chance, he is still moving in. My footpath/sidewalk is immaculate. My yard is a fortress, 2 metre high fences all around and my back yard is a jungle. It is over grown with edible plants, frogs, snakes, raptors and so many other birds, fish ponds you name it.

I'm on an apartment, so I have a container garden. Just planted seeds last weekend, so watering and watching...

I also like gardening. I feel like I'm coming back to nature when I am able to play in the dirt. I know a lot of people use gloves when potting plants and flowers, but I want to feel the soil in my hands. It eases my stress levels and gives me a sense of peace. Unfortunately, I recently moved to an apartment, so I'm unable to garden as much as I'd like to. Just a couple of plants and flowers on the balcony. Maybe you could do a raised garden in your back yard. I'm not sure what an HOA would say about that, but it's contained and your not digging up the yard to do it. Just a thought.

What's an HOA?

I think it's Home Owner's Association, but I'm not 100% certain of this.

That's what I took it to mean in this context since they seem to be controlling what he can/cannot do with his yard

I enjoy it. But I live in PA, so I don't think Spring will ever come, much less summer.

It's Punxsutawney Phil's fault....he said you all needed more snow this year.... 🙂

Yes! my corn is already 3" tall 🙂 transplanting all my starts into the raised bed gardens tomorrow! I don't live in a place with an HOA. I probably would NEVER live in such a place. I have 1 acre in town at my BnB. My BnB house was build in 1935.
