I'm about 180 miles away from Sparta. I was awake at the time and didn't notice any tremors. But several of my neighbors posted on NextDoor that they felt the tremors and it freaked them out. I am glad you are okay.

I am 40 miles south of Sparta. I heard from some friends who live closer to Sparta and they had dishes fall out of the cabinets and a few had some cracks in foundations

Just waiting for the New Madras fault to open up wide!!!

Shake, rattle and roll! We have had a few seismic tremors up here in South Eastern PA over the past three decades. Not sure, but I think at least one was around five. Quite exciting!

Exciting.... yes, that would be a way of describing it....

I was wide awake at the time. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. That isn't to say I didn't notice it. I might have and not thought much of it, like when a train goes through.

The numberr 5 magnitude in my area definitely sounded like a train going through. Oklahoma wakes are evidently caused by injection of fracking wastewater. Amazingly our state has actually limited the amount that can be injected and our quake total has slowed down but not disappeared.

I was walking through the hallway of my house - heard a roar and then everything started shaking - and I mean shaking! It was quite scary (and I was in southern CA when the Northridge quake happened).
@Lorajay I remember those quakes when I was in Ardmore. I hate fracking!

We were hit by iseas which spawned 6 tornados, flooding and massive power outages

He hit us with rain (Wilkes county had 6" of rain last week).

So far this year - pandemic, dust storm, (luckily the murder hornets are staying away) and a hurricane & earthquake in one week. The election should be fun.......

@Heidi68 You had a dust storm??? Has it been that dry? And then 6" of rain? Damn!

@bingst just that dust storm that blew through from Africa

@Heidi68 Oh... that! I had already forgotten about it. I can't say that I even noticed it here.

@bingst I got a couple of pictures one evening - it looked like a haze.

I trust you’re all shaken and not stirred over there in North Carolina!

Definitely shaken 😆😆

I am glad I live where I can trust the ground under my feet! Hope you all are just fine?!

Yes it was just rumbly & rocky for a few minutes (long seconds is probably more correct). I am not use to them here, when I lived in Southern California I expected them.

We felt it here in Raleigh as well...

A friend in Myrle Beach said he felt it also. And the news said it was felt in Alabama & Georgia.
Lil creepy way to start the day. I kinda expected them when I lived in Southern CA but not here.

@Heidi68 A friend here in Raleigh texted me this afternoon asking if I felt it, I responded; "Sorry, I fell out of bed, hope I didn't wake you" 😄

Oh wow! Wasn't there another one a few months back?

If there was I didn't feel that one. They said there were a couple overnight but I must have slept through those.

@Heidi68 There was a small one near Charlotte last year. I'm glad you are safe!
