I grew up in a small German community just nort of SA. I was baptized at the community clinic with concerns I may not make it I was baptist again. Maybe someone fell asleep. LOL. I attended Sunday shook the 8th grade; during my 7th and 8th grade we attended confirmation for 2 years. After I was confirmed I began HS. And chores and studies took my front seat. That we attended Christmas and water services with our grand parents. Mom
An dads worked hard. My parents elected to selll the business before the irs took it. Region took a back seat as mom and dad fought tooth and nail. Our family lost its prestige with no income. Mom began a local daycare center and dad got a job on oil rig.. dad lost his life picking up a hitchhiker in dripping springs, mom lost everything.i just finished HS and delayed college until August 1984. As I spent the summer working.to save for fall semester. I got a letter from my church . They wrote to inform me I am no longer an active member of the church. This was my biggest let down. Since July 1984 we lost our business, killed dad, lost my grandfather to leukemia. I moved to SA after graduating high. School than college. I gave up on social service I clung the church. We remained to busy to care.

Interesting that you lived in South Africa during the apartheid years. What were experiences knowing you were privileged at the expense of the locals. What made you go to Texas? and when did you leave South Africa?

I guess Roman Catholic churches are far more stricter than others in Asia. I got chucked out from the congregation after having a civil marriage with one from another religion. There is no looking back since then, I have turned to the (inward) altar instead!!
