Hmm. I’m not so sure about this. People move all over the country now ... where I live in North Carolina, for example, there’s hardly anyone who’s actually from here. I think this is too simplistic, and perhaps outdated, an explanation.

I agree with @Barjoe that it’s more likely a North vs. South mentality, but again keeping in mind that Southerners move north and Northerners move south — making the USA a muddle of thinking.

No. I think this is wrong. There are 2. North and South. Slave states and everywhere else. They're all Americans. Historically this may have some validity. With regards to 2020? Total bullshit.

I read the book, didn't buy-into the overall message (from the library so I didn't buy it either )

It may be because I routinely don't buy-into most 'cultural norms'.
