The latest innovation i heard about was jetting up out of the atmosphere and waiting for the earth to turn to you solar planes are still pretty lightweight at the moment [solar-flight.com] but have done the transatlantic.

We have them.... you just can't carry much weight in them. At least you can't fly very far with much weight.. In other words, not commercially feasible for commercial transit.. Much like it's not commercially feasible for most home energy sources either.. More RandD needs to take place.. In good time though.. They'll get it.. Probably within the Space program or Military RandD , where most of those developments come from anyway...

@LucyLoohoo the big oil boys are slowly diversifying, but are still using, ‘offsets’ instead of real green credentials to hide the fact that they’re using their own fossils.

Hopefully life will be a long enough song, (reference to a Jethro Tull title), for us to change things around for my niece and nephews and many of my friends’ grandchildren.

@Captain_Feelgood One of the reasons I object to private jets is the fuel use. I'd love to see small craft with solar panels!
